power amp/pre amp input and output impedence question
As long as you are north of 10:1 you're good. The only issue you might run into with amps with a very high input impedance is you might want to keep the capacitance down with your interconnect cables so as to maintain high frequency bandwidth.
Can this swarm fly?
FWIW, the thing about the actual Swarm is that the speakers are designed to be right up against the wall to give you flat response. Normal subs are not- they should be placed outside the room boundaries for best effect.
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music?
What I'd like to know is whether a 4 smaller sub DBA has diminishing returns over dual larger higher powered subs when room correction is employedIMO/IME its the other way around. But if you have a DBA, then when you apply the room correction it...
Oppo 105 and Power Amplifier Input Sensitivity
Yes. You could run a Passive Volume Control too. If you go that route, keep your cables short! IME they tend to rob some of the bass impact if less than full volume; that's why I prefer other means.
Tonearm mount to the plinth vs arm board vs rotating arm board vs isolated tower
I heartily recommend that everyone make their own recordings in high fidelity. A nice tape machine and a good set of microphones are required. Find a nice-sounding venue and make a recording of something that you can stand to listen to over and ov...
Oppo 105 and Power Amplifier Input Sensitivity
I'd put the amp on the 4.8V sensitivity and then you should be able to run the Oppo, but before you put in a CD, turn the volume down!

Non Analytical Sounding DAC Upgrade- Budget $1,500 or less
Just for fun I picked up a Topping D-30 as it was getting some nice comments online. It was about $120.00 on ebay. I've seen it beat out a variety of much more expensive units! Smoother, more 3D and not bright. Quite a surprise! The last DAC it be...
If you listen to anything other than Classic Jazz, don't read this.
I will simply say that I have not yet found the "perfect" speaker or one that is absolutely best with all types of music. I wish I could, it would save me a lot of time, money and aggravation.Sound Labs are great with everything I've thrown at t...
INPUT/OUTPUT IMPEDANCE
Who does it? or did it? Thanks...@oldhvymec  The best-known example IMO is Ampex in their 351 electronics, which were the tape electronics used to make many early stereo LPs like RCA Living Stereo and the like.
What am I missing? Pre/power gain and input sensitivity.
My main objection to vinyl is the ticks, pops, and noise.@cat_doorman A lot of ticks and pops that people react to when playing vinyl are caused by the phono preamp itself (due to high frequency overload) and aren't actually on the LP itself. Its ...
Feedback
Ralph (@atmasphere), what do you think of Mr. Putzeys’ statement that ...... the idea that feedback causes TIM is probably most noteworthy for being not just wrong, but also the exact opposite of the truth. TIM happens in the input stage. An in...
Tonearm mount to the plinth vs arm board vs rotating arm board vs isolated tower
This was covered in detail on the Copernican thread. I remember something about that. If the devices (such as the arm pod or the base of the platter system) use isomerics or the like between them and the plinth that **will** result in coloration. ...

Have you guys ever seen Halcro’s photos of the interior of his Halcro preamplifier? Something like that in black.Yes- we donated one of our Atma-Sphere model 208 turntables to the local audiophile society and someone there used a 'paint' like that...
