2 different Bedini 150/150 Mk II Amps
Sounds like it to me.
Thoughts on Tube vs SS amplification for Sony SS AR1s
My point is if you look at the Sony SS AR1 speaker measurements they are as George and others have rightly noted, a ’challenging ’ speaker load given its impedance curve and phase angle characteristics. Armed with this knowledge the last thing ...
Thoughts on Tube vs SS amplification for Sony SS AR1s
One has to ponder that there are things listeners can clearly hear that (At least for now) aren’t being measured or maybe can’t be measured. In this case I don't think so.  The Luxman is able to behave as a proper voltage source within certain li...
How does the input impedance of an amplifier effect it sonically?
The simplified answer is that the resistor which sets the input impedance is usually sized the same value as the global negative feedback resistor in order to minimize DC offset from a gain mismatch between the two differential input transistors. ...
Nixie tube amplifier project - unfinished - help!
@kjmelvinNixie tubes do not amplify. They display numbers and are the old school version of what was around before LEDs were used to display numbers (like in old digital alarm clocks). So a nixie tube amplifier doesn't seem to be a thing- could it...
70’s rock pressings. Witch equipment deserve?
Finally, you should tell us what is your favorite new MM cartridges and how many of those greatest vintage MM did you try and actually compared to the modern MM ? Also it would be nice to know which modern MM you could compare to some of your n...
How to accurately gauge speaker sensitivity to match with tube amp?
Matching the power amplifier to the loudspeaker is usually a function of driver size, efficiency and budget. Efficiency is not the only determinant – even though they may be very efficient, many speakers with large drivers need tremendous amounts ...
Thoughts on Tube vs SS amplification for Sony SS AR1s
I am really surprised/stumped as to the results, as I had high expectations for the Accuphase and the SS AR1s. This Accuphase amp is highly regarded and in all the literature I read I would never have expected this outcome, but that's what my e...
Does high end system with dedicated circuits need grounding products
The better the grounding schemes of the individual components in your system (and assuming your house wiring is to code), the more you will find that such grounding boxes have less effect if any at all. A properly grounded bit of audio electronics...
Preamp to match Rogue Audio Stereo 100 Power Amp?
One element I don't want the Rogue amp to lose it its fleetness. My lack of technical acumen comes in at this point, for I'm thinking that a solid state preamp might serve that end better than a tube preamp. If I'm wrong, I surely don't have an...
Are these Speakers the BEST on Planet Earth ?...
Whatever Mr Cox’s goal; he hit it out of the park, with the SVT.Yes- a real classic.
How to accurately gauge speaker sensitivity to match with tube amp?
The Focal isn't crazy low for tubes but it will give them a hard time. You should use the 4 ohm tap with this speaker.Generally speaking though if you want to get the best out of a tube amp then the speaker should not go much below 8 ohms especial...
Are these Speakers the BEST on Planet Earth ?...
Hm. Sounds like you have a baritone guitar. That has low E at 82Hz.FWIW the SVT amplifier was designed around hifi ideals (by Roger Cox who retired from his position as VP at Fender a few years ago), at least that's how he put it to me.
70’s rock pressings. Witch equipment deserve?
@ramon74 Technics are great turntables. Their tonearms are not nearly as good as the turntable is! The same goes for their platter pads.1.- buy yourself a nice vintage MM cartridge from the same era with Line Contact type stylus (avoid spherical/...
Are these Speakers the BEST on Planet Earth ?...
Uh @rodman99999 I play bass, started on string bass in 6th grade... low E is more like 41Hz. But most bass guitar cabs are set up to play 82Hz as the bass has a strong 2nd harmonic. Even though I might use a class D to power them, I prefer a speak...
