Is there such a thing as too much power?
@agwca If only a sine wave then your numbers are reasonable. But if reproducing a full spectrum audio signal its a bit different!
Most Musical 6NS7 tube for a Preamp?
Sheesh- we don't get in the mix?I can vouch for Andy Bouwman of Vintage Tube Services. We have many consistently positive comments from our customers going back 25 years.
Tonearm mount to the plinth vs arm board vs rotating arm board vs isolated tower
I agree with @halcro , it is essential to isolate the tonearm from the platter bearing and the motor. This opens the turntable to colorations. Apparently Thorens has this sorted out:The idea if I understood Greg correctly is that everything vibrati...
System assembled; only a final decision about speakers remains
IF: you have a 60w tube amp with a damping factor of 20, THEN: make sure you get a speaker that is, at least:___ sensitivity___ ohms nominal___ ohms curve that looks like [insert description]___ other metric(s)?Having a rough and ready chart like ...
System assembled; only a final decision about speakers remains
With regards to the OP:Since you are using tubes, its in your best interest to get a speaker that is at least 8 ohms (especially in the bass region) and easy to drive (no difficult phase angles, higher efficiency well into the 90s at least). Tube ...
6H30 tubes vs the others
Microphonics is the vibration of the tube’s glass, which introduces itself into the signal?is that the purpose of the damper rings I see around some tubes? You’re saying it’s more of an issue on 6H30’s more than other tubes?Microphonics has more t...
Opinions on the current market
FWIW many manufacturers in high end are keeping busy right now.  A similar phenomena is happening in the bicycle world; apparently if we have to practice social distancing and quarantine, might as well enjoy it.
Mag-Lev Turntables
Here is the engineering principle that must be observed when designing a plinth for a turntable:The plinth must be as rigid and as acoustically dead (damped) as possible. The mounting of the platter bearing in the plinth will be thus coupled as...

If you listen to anything other than Classic Jazz, don't read this.
If you are of the opinion that great speakers make all music sound good then move on to the next post, because the premise here is that speakers for Acoustic Jazz ( Big Band to Post Bop) have different requirements. My jazz audiophile buddies a...
Yet another Integrated vs Separates advice post
I have my equipment stand placed where its most convenient. That's not between the speakers. I've found that keeping speaker cables short is helpful for increasing resolution and bass impact. So I run mono power amps as close to the loudspeakers a...
Preamp with Phono $3-5k range
Balanced isn’t stepping up. Balanced is stepping sideways, at greater cost. Same goes for separates. This statement is at best misleading. If balanced is set up properly there's no going back to single-ended- lower noise, lower distortion, less cab...
Is there such a thing as too much power?
Atmasphere, Is there a way to determine an amplifier's lowest point of distortion apriori or is an empirical issue? If the specs are published, its easy, if not, a distortion analyzer is handy. But as I mentioned, with most amplifiers this is about...
6H30 tubes vs the others
The basic design of the 6H30 is ideal for audio.  The main issue with tubes like this (frame grid triodes; includes the 6DJ8) is microphonics, as they were not intended for audio. Linearity is good though.
Power Conditioners
The devices linked in the OP are not power conditioners. They are power strips with surge limiting. They will not improve the sound, but they may be helpful at preventing damage from power surges and lightning strikes on the power line.
