Performer-in-Room Quality with Speakers?
I'll vote w/Mapman on his 3/30 post....omnis will give you 'presence' with ease and without 'sweet spotting' you.I've got 4 Walsh's and can put the vocalist in your lap, if that appeals....;)
And now, Introducing....
*L*  Yup, an 'in yer face' 4/1 spoof.  A prime example of 'forward, into the past' tech.  Digital with a single channel VU meter?I've got some lake bottom property and a N.Y. area bridge on Craig's List that are hot to trot for investors in this '...
Your not a serious audiophile I'd you have??????
Serious audiophiles can get into forum rant 'n raves that can go on endlessly about an esoteric item that drives other 'less serious 'philes' into an immediate lust for said item, regardless of price or appropriateness for Their system....the 'Jus...
Is it all worth it?
Enjoy your speakers, Maps...*S*  Simple pleasures...and cost effective. ;)Think of it as a form of recycling.
Is it all worth it?
...and 'Perfect' is a highly debatable concept and construct....*S*We've all seen what happens when we go poking at that third rail. ;)Ultimately, we like what we listen to.  If we don't (for whatever reason/rationale), we change it.  It's the fou...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
On a hysterical note, the original Ohm cones used aluminum.  The center third of a 'F' was mated to a titanium top with a paper lower.  The 'A's were 3/4's +/- alum. on the bottom with a titanium top.  The cones had (and have to have) a rigid enou...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
OMG...I'd hate to be and have 'the last word' on this subject...The fire dies if not tended.  Music will continue...the 'appreciation' of it will evolve, as it always has.  There will be a future, the shape of which we can only guess at, but that ...
Is it all worth it?
Mapman, I can relate to your impressions...  Due to age, 'changing fortunes', and the price of 'high end' components becoming stratospheric and subtle to the point of near mania, I walked away from it for a time.  I'd look at impressive and/or ele...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
Y'all are 'going negative'...stop it.  Things change...not always for what one may consider better, but if you look hard enough there are still things occurring that stand as 'bright spots in the gloom'.  LP's are 'trending'...there's niches out t...
Just moved to an apartment need speaker suggestions
Pay attention to placement, as your neighbors will hear a bass line before anything else....Maggies, Yes, good call y'all.  But a dipole in a small space could be problematic.  A decent bookshelf on a stand, smallish towers...Consider active EQ fo...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
t8kc...A 'permanent fix', if left to the spouse, might be a pillow applied late one night. ;)  Or some sort of involuntary therapy....You might try a common ground.  TV's aren't known for being all that 'clean' when it comes to being 'sanitary' in...
Tonearm recommendation
ct...Oil? South.  For the time being, anyway.  The low prices @ the pump simply forestalls our being weaned from the stuff before it becomes rare.  HO:  It'll attain that just about the time the climate really gets everyone's attention, which is w...
Will a RCA to RCA adapter hurt the sound?
*L*  It's getting to the point that the only things not made Elsewhere......is Us. ;)
