Adding a “safe haven” forum for discussion of tweaks? It is what it is. What is it? 😁
Adding a “safe haven” forum for discussion of tweaks? Plus there’s more. Since most everyone starts a thread sometime , it would make all of us moderators/monitors. As I have said, people used to be able to monitor themselves and had control enough of their own emotions that they knew how to be manne...
Adding a “safe haven” forum for discussion of tweaks? I think we can all agree that threads about tweaks like fuses, stones, mats, power conditioners etc. stir up all kinds of controversy, conflict and ill will. I don't believe that for one second! Ideas should only stir up someone to investi...
Adding a “safe haven” forum for discussion of tweaks? Adding a “safe haven” forum for discussion of tweaks? We already have one Its called "the insider" And for $100 yr you can have such a safe space. Being a moderator is often a volunteer thing. It was expected that grown ups had the natural a...
Tube integrated amp recommendations FWIW there is a new in box NOS CJ Cav 45 for sale onone of the sites for $2199. I was tempted even though I don't need it. Not affiliated. otherwise I'd go with the Blackhawk.
To DAC or not to DAC ? Tubes will make a difference. But the don't generally make a dramatic imnprovement.
suspending monitors from the ceiling The difference with hanging from ceiling vs any other isolation technique is you're essentially not coupling speakers or equipment to anything Huh? Isolation & coupling are opposites. I always thought that you wanted to isolate speakers so ...
To DAC or not to DAC ? Just be aware that often those recommending you flip your gear to what they have now will have totally different gear in a year or two and be just as hardily recommending that gear then. My amp was bought last year. Prior to that I had an amp f...
Ridiculous assertions that someone is being ripped off or conned I agree with @teo_audio But we are rapidly approaching the point where ’opting out’ of the conflict that is encountered... where the insanity of such projections in weakness of mental capacity, hearing capacity, reasoning capacity and civility ...
To DAC or not to DAC ? Good call @audiotroy
If a " system " cannot do this, I move on........ When boys get toys, they play with them. This is true of recording engineers also. I really like the 60's Motown sound. R&B and others are plagued by Phil Spector's wall of sound. It worked good for AM radio. But it sounds awful on a good syst...
suspending monitors from the ceiling @big_greg I did the same thing with my turntable back in the 70’s. There were never any skip, no matter how much partying was done. I’d do the same thing again if my TT didn’t weigh 125 lbs. BTW, that streamer sounds very good when fed a goo...
Quoting from another post. @russ69 Because the function isn't that great....just a faded bar on the side, not so good I'm not sure why you can't see that the font is different and the quote is indented? This is standard writing procedure.
To DAC or not to DAC ? @fullers Yes. I’m not familiar with the McIntosh preamp but I suspect it is a worthy upgrade.. I am partial to Conrad Johnson preamp myself. You may want to consider this one along with the McIntosh and choose the appropriate one for your nee...
To DAC or not to DAC ? +1 @ghdprentice I might be inclined to skip the DAC and get a preamp that matches the amp and speaker quality. As has been said, you have 2 really good pieces which are being held back from their ability to produce very good sound imo. |
