Speaker Suitable for Baby/Children - Wall Mount
I think the child's parent's bedroom would be sufficiently "off limits" and toddler safe. I know my mom's room was when I was growing up. I would put the stereo in there and "maybe" build an "in wall" or "on wall" HT multi-purpose system in the fa...
Is 9'x11' too small?
That would be the right size for a full Audio Note system! Or a system based on totem or maybe vandersteen 1Cs! But I'd shoot for the best audio note system (CD/DAC, integrated, and speakers) I could afford and not look back! Aaron
Maggies...Measured Amp Power Requirements
Dolfan, I would think your statement(s) might be right. I listen to my maggies between 62-78dB SPL. And maggies DO SUBTRACT low level detail at modest sound pressure levels. (less than 80dBSPL, or is it more like 85dB SPL?) In another thread Tim (...
What time do you wear?
Only at work. A Seko, Bulova, or Waltham. But there I go spouting brand names, as if that meant something. I wear whatever catches my eye and tastes for about $100/watch. I can't seem to justify more than that since the watches seem slowly take a ...
End of Hi-fi?
No. I think Joe Six-pack has done more harm to NASA and progress in general that can even be attributed to audiophiles.
What makes a speaker perform well at low volume?
Three words: Low level detail. Sometimes the problem lies in the passive parts of your louspeakers (binding posts, wiring, crossovers, etc). sometimes it's the drivers themselves. Sometimes the problem is farther up the signal chain. And yes, high...
How frequently do you check Audiogon listings?
Every 15 minutes if I'm actively looking for something. Else I'm down to once a week like now. Yep once a week if at all. You have to check as often as you can, in order to catch those deals like you just missed. I can also check via my cell phone...
Is there any hope for my room?
Agree with Newbee. I had a similar problem in the new room in my house. It was funky shaped. I was changing speaker placement to no avail. It would just increase the existing node "booms." The nulls were still there. I wasn't until I started movin...
Help with a new TV please
a front pj will require light control in that room. You can get by with less light control for TV watching that movie viewing, but you still need a little bit of light control. Make sure you girlfriend is willing to accept that. I find this is a s...
Favorite CD treatments?
I use the Mapleshade Ionoclast gun. I zap the CDs. It increases low-level resolution. As a result the system appears to be more sensitive and plays louder to the observer. For me it really does work. About $40. I haven't tried the other stuff yet....
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use?
EVS DAC and Marantz cc43 transport. Doesn't sound like vinyl, but it sounds like pretty resolving redbook. Good enough to not worry about upgrades. I juat wanted something competent and as high-end as I could get for minimal money invested. About ...

Best CD player...for ME ;
I would call Ric Schultz at EVS and chat about one of his modded players. Disclaimer: I have one of his hand-built DACs. Very ruthless, accurate, yet liquid. Lots of PRaT. Give Ric a call.

Maybe have Timbernation custom build you something?
Speaker Suitable for Baby/Children - Wall Mount
I think you're over-reacting by selling the system and getting everything off of the floor. But that's not my place to change your mind. 30x45 is a lot of volume indeed. I agree that the NAD probably won't have the power to push MMG-Ws to fill tha...
