"a stylish and affordable launch into the world of high-performance audio"
If Bob stole money from Joe to pay for a 200K of speakers, then it might be a problem.  But if Bob honestly made the money himself, then by all means.  In fact, I want as many people to purchase $200K speakers as many as possible.
Thiel Owners
Bud, Coors,  Heineken, Corona, Draft? It's not the beers that made the man.
Does raising speaker cables off the floor really make a big difference?
I experimented with using beer cans as cable risers. I would drink a beer then used the empty can as a riser. And guess what? By the time I finished it worked. Good idea. It works better than cable risers. After my beer post, it actually turned so...

Maybe we shouldn't be surprise.  Think of the speakers in the OP post like a Toyota Camry - perfectly fine at around 30K.  Then there are the supercars (or super cars) that are around 300K.  I don't think the supercars are 10X better than the Toyo...

This thread is better than beers.  Better even than self-indulgence.

how long is the break-in period? Theoretically, the break-in process is open-ended that is the cables continue to break-in as if "infinitely", that is again theoretically.  Practically, though it depends on one's system and one's hearing.

Not highly relevant to this thread, perhaps, but still a humbling experience that could be related. As a matter of curiosity, would you be humbling if you didn't see any difference?

prof,I guess I was right.  You couldn't admit to your self-indulgence.  Not that it's a problem :-)

I got your point andy. I think you missed the point of my reply. ;-) I supposed you have your point, but I think at least I was right about the self-indulgence part although that's not the only thing.  But anyway, you have the right to exercise y...

Perfectly put. Cheers.   ;-) prof,I think you missed my point.  What I was saying is you intentionally trying to be illogical out of being self-indulgence.  I think you enjoy doing it lols :-)

It's interesting how these multi-drivers speakers can be sold for so cheaply.  My guess is two things: very inexpensive drivers and the cabinets are probably not up to Thiel or some of the more high-end brands.  And of course, made in China helps.

Most audiophiles, even reviewers are "beginners". You forgot to mention that the best ones may not be "beginners", but they definitely are liars lols.

Bi-wire makes a difference, that is if you system has the resolution for it.  Bi-amp will even be better.  Although not all "bi" is good.

On the other hands, I saw a pair of YG Acoustics Hailey 1.2 for 25K. used. That's a lot for two woofers and a tweeter.
How Science Got Sound Wrong
Too bad some certain types of memory cannot be erased.  Actually I haven't had enough beers to find out.  Or maybe some really expensive Hennessy - those of the very smooth operator.
