Upgrade from DV 17D3, looking for recommendations! Glad to hear you took the plunge on the art9. Nothing pisses me off more in this hobby than all the rip offs so when I see something that is relatively good bang for the buck I like to recommend it.
Upgrade from DV 17D3, looking for recommendations! I had the Delos for a lot of years and while it is a great cartridge it has a bit of a mid bass bump that constantly annoyed me. On a lean sounding system it may be a good thing though. It comes down to system synergy. I preferred my helicon to...
Which pre should I choose? I cannot see parts availability being a problem either as resistors and capacitors are the same as they were years ago. There is really nothing very new in electronics.
Which pre should I choose? Vintage gear does not "need repair constantly ". In fact it is probably better made than most modern units. As long as any electrolytic caps are replaced you should be good to go.
Anticables Paying $600 for interconnects! Of course it's a scam!! Use the $ 20 ones, they will likely sound the same.
How much gain is needed in a Phono Preamp for a 0.2 to 0.3mv low output moving coil? No I spoke with Keith herron himself who told me that. I have done it multiple times to no ill effect.

Affordable Turntable Options Buying a vintage table is nothing like pulling Granny's car out of the garage! Paraneer you seem to have glossed over my point that a vintage belt drive turntable is not a very complex device so not much can go wrong with it. A lot different from...
Affordable Turntable Options I don't understand people's aversion to buying vintage turntables. Turn tables are so simple that they rarely break. If they do usually it's easy and inexpensive to fix. Unless obviously you're talking about a very complex direct drive. But an old...
Anyone still using a Teres table? Ok I will try that, thanks.
The Fine Art of Doing Nothing By Roger Skoff I meant that as a reminder to the op to let us know what happened
Anyone still using a Teres table? Anybody have any contact info for someone who could help??
What settings do people use with Lyra cartridges? Atmosphere is totally correct. With my Herron I find it sounds best wide open
Optimal Vandersteen 2Wq settings I tried the premium X5 in my system Against a custom unit with Mundorf capacitors in it and the custom unit was more transparent. I think you would be much further ahead to have your local tech build you a custom unit with the capacitors of your ... |
