Would you use an Ortofon A90 on a Jelco tonearm?
I don't think that Soundsmith does but I believe Andy does.  Could be wrong about Soundsmith though.

Pani I would think you can get it retipped with a different style of tip no problem.  The replicant 100 may probably just be Ortofon's name for one of the existing shapes.  Marketing!!  I got a Lyra Delos retipped by an aftermarket service and it ...
Any new turntable brands we should pay attention to ?
That S A M out of Croatia looks very intriguing....

I can't find an effective mass for the jelco. I hate it when they don't give you that crucial spec!

I have a per windfeld that I was thinking about selling if your interested. I am second owner. The first guy bought it as a demo from a dealer without the original packaging. Estimated to have about 300 hours on it. I would definitely put it on a ...
Long distance between preamp and power amp
Thank goodness we have Al, the voice of reason. Getting rid of that amp just to change the mode of connection would be ridiculous.
2017 vs. 1990s - How far we have come
Wow TEO Audio and I actually agree on something for a change!  I have to say that his first two posts in this thread are bang on as far as I'm concerned.   I could put together a top-flight analogue system from 1980 and it would sound better than ...
Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
Nobody's gonna call TEO Audio out on his endless self promotion?   He can spell the line of bull crap like no other! Well maybe not no other, there is a rock selling salesman who is very accomplished at that as well.  Just to prevent some one from...
Grado cartridges still worth the money?
Randy Why don't you get a 1 to 10 SUT and run it into your MC section.  That coupled with 5751 tubes should work well.
Directionality of wire
Then we have teo claiming you can hear from the next room, wanna come in and demonstrate that one blind??
Directionality of wire
What a load of BS!!
Van Den Hul what is the best cart ?
Just an update to my earlier  post regarding my colibri.  The sibilance I was experiencing was mostly a break-in issue and partly an arm compatibility issue.  The compliance is very high so you need a very light effective mass arm to have the rig...
Best fuses for under $50?
Goofykate  I just reverse the current going through them. About 60 times a second. And believe it or not I don't hear any difference whether it's going one way or the other!
Directionality of wire
That's funny! The master of gobbledygook himself Geoff,  accusing the educated voice of reason, Almarg  of spreading nonsense. Just to re-iterate for the newbies, treat anything Geoff says as entertainment and anything Al says as gospel.
Best fuses for under $50?
I buy a package of six Bussman's for under $10. Only fools spend more!  Only bigger fools think that directionality makes a difference. Bigger fool's yet sell bags of rocks. The biggest fools of all buy them
