My SDS died?????? Don't feel bad. I've been though 3 PLC's and VPI won't repair them anymore. The one I have now I got used. Transformer's keep burning out. Wish I could afford an SDS!
VPI Ring Clamp Jameswei,The $1200 would involve a new bearing, platter, the ring itself and I'd have to have a PLC or SDS to get the speed right. Plus I might as well get the new center weight for another $150. I think I'll stick with my TNT platter although I t...
VPI Record Clamps Dopeman,I have a TNT platter and a clamp is absolutly required. Now in retrospect $300 was a lot to spend on a record clamp, but I've found the BDR to be the best. Carbon fiber absorbes vibrations like crazy and I've noticed a quieter background s...
VPI Ring Clamp A question: does the outer ring clamp all it's cracked up to be. All records are warped a little on the outer edge, but does flattening them out such a big deal. I have 19MK 4 and it would cost me $1200 to upgrade. Would that be money well spent?
Navacon or Sorbothane Isolators for VPI mk4 I just ordered sorbathane pucks for for my MK4 to try instead of the springs I've been using for 10 years. No matter what i did my woofers would jump no matter how softly I walked by my table. And this is with A Big Rock 19, floor jacks under the ...
Can almost anyone learn to set up a Cartridge? A lot depends on your arm/cartridge combo. It took me forever to dial in a Graham 2.2 Benz Ruby because of the azimuth and those damn sideweights. Then there id the damping fluid level. Pain in the ass but was well worth it when I finally got it r...
Thinking of jumping to analog...which turntable? But you can make the search for records a mission. Used record stores, record conventions, online catalogs. I don't know how many records I rescued from garage sales and used record stores. Problem is you need a record cleaning machine to do it ri...
Dustcover suggestions? Keep in mind dustcovers can act like echo chambers inpinging on your arm/cartridge especially when levels are loud. I just set my dustcover on my table when not in use and remove it when playing.
Is there high output MC that can compete/beat ... Benz now has a Ebony LP it claims to be the best high output moving coil in the world. better be for 2 grand.
How long does a stylus last? Use Stylast and it'll last a lot longer
VPI Record Clamps The new clamp is one piece, just carved out of a hunk of carbon fiber. I heard there were some problems with the 2 piece. Anyway I like it and found it superior to the VPI stainless. I have a VPI 19 and have to have some kind of clamp.Best,Chris
scoutmaster/scout vs mark iv I have a modified Mk 4 and would take it over the Scoutmaster anytime. Mainly because I have a Graham 2.2 on it and I don't think you have a lot of choice as far as tomearms go with the Scout. Can you put a Rega on a Scoutmaster? Those wobbly-no-a...
Solid stylus cleaners: Extreme Phono vs. Onzow Zer I have never tried the Extreme Phono, but I think the Zerodust should be analog product of the year.
VPI Record Clamps It's not real fun to play with as it's one solid piece. Less background noise, quieter soundstage. I paid $300 and am keeping mine. Yes, I was using the stainless clamp, but traded it in to my dealer. Remember, if you buy the BDR and aren't impres...
I want to try a MM Shure V15 Type V MR. Best damn MM made and they are being discontinued |
