Any heard of Porcupine Tree? Bdgregory, Their sound has changed since they signed with a major lable. I think their best years were when they were with Delerium. But I do like Deadwing and In Absentia grows on you after you listen to it a few times. The records you picked are...

Biggest Baddest Audio Cables The Transparent MM Opus speaker cable. What can you say about a pair of cables that cost $32,000.
Help choosing Power Conditioner PS Audio P-300, nuff said. For source componants only. Use a PS Audio High Current Ultimate Outlet for power amps.
Do speakers sound better on wood floor or concrete A lot of it has to do with the structre of the floor. Is is a wobbly suspended wooden floor with a basement like I have? I had to cut away the carpeting, screw down 3/4" plywood and then install floorjacks right under the speakers from the basemen...
VPI Record Clamps No, but IMHO the Scout has a questionable arm and no suspension. And I don't by you can impliment antiskating by twisting the tonearm wire. At best you'd need a rock solid platform, probably a wall stand. Mike at VPI has assured me the arm is stab...
Passively bi-amping I do have some respect that these a under powered amps (Pass Aleph 5's) for the Nuatalus 802. I have a notch in my Aleph P. When turned all the way to it is plenty loud for this rock and roll animal. Bass is tight, no sign of distortion. However i...
Suggestions for Feet Jay_wYou might want to consider gettting some Black Diamond Racing carbon fiber pucks to go under your cones. Great isolation especially from micro-vibations.

Graham 2.2 damping fluid amount? SirSpeedy,Did you raise of lower lower your VTF as you added fluid? I only have a Shure Stylus force gauge and can't do any fine adjustments. What about antiskating?
VPI Record Clamps I have a HW19 with the TNT platter. VPI has discontinued the '19 opting for their new tables with which you have to use their arms. I don't like their arms and wouldn't have one. I have a Graham 2.2. And I think the VPI Scout is a piece of shit. A...
Passively bi-amping I hear active bi-amping is tricky and my personaly opinion is intergating subwoofers is almost impossible to get right.Plus my room is bass heavy. Could use a pair of 16" Tubetraps. I have a small room for such a large speaker and am able to achei...
Graham 2.2 damping fluid amount? I don't know if I have the patience to keep fiddling with this arm. Azimuth, overhang, VTA, VTF, antiskating now damping fluid. All I know is I have it pretty well dialed in so I think I'll spend my time listening to records.
Graham 2.2 tonearm cables I would just spend the extra bucks and get the Graham IC-70. Keep it simple. |
