Zerostat Zerostats come in real handy on dry winter days. You can also use them to zap cables. I wouldn't be without one.
Pink Floyd LPs It would be nice to see audiophile pressings of their whole catalog. At least the ones with Roger Waters in the band.

Record-playing Rituals? Scottht, I would check out LAST record presevative and Stylast as well. I have records I've played over and over: no wear, no clicks, no pops. As far as Stylast is concered the only people who don't like it sell cartidges for a living. You do have...
Record-playing Rituals? I had a jug of VPI cleaner turn green. Plus Harry recomends adding alcohol. A big no-no. I bought some Disc Doctor solution. It works fine and is claimed to have a indefinate shelf life. I like the VPI 16.5, but I'd steer clear of VPI cleaners.
Record-playing Rituals? I take the dresired record from it's sleeve, put it on the 'table, clap it down with a Black Diamomd Racing carbon fiber record clamp. The best clamp I've used including the new VPI delrin/stainless. It cost $350 though. I set my stylus in the Zer...
Getting and keeping records clean................ A VPI 16.5 is a must. It's up to you as to what fluid you use. I like the Disc Doctor. I've heard Record Research Labs is good. Also look into LAST record prservative. It's appled after you clean and dry your records. It chemically binds to the vi...
Lubrication for VPI tables If you own an older VPI with the bearing at the bottom of the shaft like an older '19 or a TNT you need to remove the bearing once a year and unscew the bottom of the shaft. That would be the tungsten your bearing rides on. Clean all parts and DON...
How Should We Clean A New Record? I noticed you neglecled to mention LAST record presevative. I clean my new records with Disc Doctor RCF on a VPI 16.5 After thay I apply Last and I've had records I've played hundreds of times. It fact I have a MoFi copy Of David Bowie's Ziggy Sta...

VPI upgrades question... You may want to look into a better tonearm.
Speed Box for turntable I have an old VPI PLC (third one and I got it used) and it diffently makes a differernce. Not only that but they lower thje voltage automaticly which lowers motor vibrations and adds years to your motor. Only thing is a VPI SDS is $1000 and the Wa... |
