Fine tuning Azimuth - Very postive results It really took a long time to set azimuth with my Graham because it's a unipivot and you have to turn these tungsten side weights in and out to get it right. Once I got it dialed in it sounded great.
VPI Record Clamps How do you run your 'table without a clamp? What do you do that sounds better? I'd really like to know...
Pass Alep2 I have 2 Aleph 5's I passively bi-amp Nautalus 802's and they sound wonderful. I think Alephs are some of the best sounding amps around. Inefficent, can't handle difficult speaker loads, and will double your electric bill, but wonderful sounding a...
Pass XVR-1 Crossover I heard the Pass was very complicated and expensive, $5000.
Pass Labs Aleph Question I have 2 Aleph 5's and they are one of the finest sounding amps I've ever heard. Drawback, only sound good when warmed up (at least an hour), will double your electric bill if you leave then on and aren't suitable for difficullt speaker loads. Mat...
best used amp around $2000 for B&W N802s Despite what people think 802's are rated at 91db sensitivity. You do not need a shitload of power for these speakers.
BEST match for B&W Natilus 802s I run my 802's with 2 Pass Aleph 5 60 watt amps and they sound fantastic. However my room is not that big so you'll probably want amps with more balls. Check out Bryston or Ayre.
Passively bi-amping I disagree on the Aleph 5's. 802's are rated at 91 db and I've drivin them with one Aleph no problem. With both amps hooked up I reached 110db and man it was LOUD. I brought home a Ayre power amp home from my dealer. Don't know the model but it wa...
speaker cables for B&W N802's Try Transparent Supers. Expensive, but sweet sounding.
Coaxial or fiber optic i/c for Dolby Digital? If your fiber is Toslink forget it and go coax.
Recommendations on Toslink cable I suggest you avoid Toslink if at all possible. Worst possible interface. If you must PS Audio makes a high quality glass cable.
PS Audio Prelude power cord. I used PS Audio Plus for my power amps and they work well. Kinda of stiff, though
Graham IC-50 -vs-IC-70 "shotgun" I got an IC-50 figuring $500 was enough to spend on a phono cable. It has those strange Bullit plugs for RCA's. I lkie it just fine
Does digital affect analog sound?? I have all my equipment (analog and digital) hooked to a PS Audio P-300 Power Plant. I can't notice any digital hash polluting my analog. I also have Versalab Woodblocks on all my equipment which strips RF. The only problem with turning off your d...
Turntable Platforms - Low mass? High mass? Why? Bright Star Audio believes you should have a high mass (Big Rock 19) isolated with air Air Mass 19. Lots of mass isolated from enternal vibation. Problem is this stuff ain't cheap. |
