Record Store Day postponed due to Corona Virus I really do not think ANYBODY who has actually ever lived in Europe would wish they now lived there after living in the USA, no matter what. Funny. Incredibly stupid, but funny. Sounds like wishful thinking, Mr. Potato Head. Tell me that again in ...
Record Store Day postponed due to Corona Virus Hey, look on the bright side. We could be living in Europe. 😬 Give it a week or two and you’ll dearly wish you were living in Europe. By then USA will be Italy++.
Is a Lyra Kleos good with a current-mode phono preamp? I would translate "super-low internal impedance" to mean below 1 Ohm and preferably well below. 5.4 Ohm is well outside the ballpark and 8.2 Ohm is far enough away that the ballpark is only visible in the far distance.
van den Hul Colibri, Koetsu Rosewood Signature, SoundSmith Sussurro Mk ii Well, if anyone knows it ought to be them.Best of luck whatever you end up with!
van den Hul Colibri, Koetsu Rosewood Signature, SoundSmith Sussurro Mk ii Ah yes, the 103. Both it and its brother the 103R sounded suberb on the 11g Syrinx.Sure, extreme mismatches are bad. I wouldn't, for instance, stick a Koetsu on a Black Widow or a Grace 747. Well, actually I would, but only out of curiosity and...
van den Hul Colibri, Koetsu Rosewood Signature, SoundSmith Sussurro Mk ii The Mørch should work just fine with the Rosewood, especially with a blue arm tube. Way back I tested an Onyx Platinum in my (then) Syrinx PU3b with an effective mass of 11g and it worked beautifully. The paramount issues are the quality of the arm...
van den Hul Colibri, Koetsu Rosewood Signature, SoundSmith Sussurro Mk ii I don’t know the Sussurro, or for that sake any other Soundsmith cartridge, but of the Colibri and the Rosewood Signature the former wins as far as I’m concerned. Not because the Koetsu is bad in any way; au contraire, it’s a glorious cartridge. I...
Jelco SA-750D cartridges The reason I'm not interested is simply that its so very easy to buy a cartridge with equal or better sound at a lesser cost than "your" vintage Audio-Technicas. An AT33PTG/II for example. If I was a collector or a an obsessive fan of vintage MMs ...
Jelco SA-750D cartridges If you never owned this model then do yourself a favor and find it, it is well worth the effort even if it will take several years, you may never heard anything better than this.I've not owned it, but I've heard it, and I don't agree with your ...
VTF gauge My $2.95 (vastly more expensive today I see) Chinese gauge is accurate to within 0.01g at all points with its intended range. How exactly is the Ortofon better?
Jelco SA-750D cartridges I owned a SA-750E for seven or eight years and tried it with a sh*tload of cartridges from 5g (Dynavector Karat 19A) to 12.5g (Koetsu Onyx Platinum). Basically it handled all of them very well indeed. The SA-750 isn’t the very last word in refinem...
Cartridge suggestions Audio-Technica VM740ML or VM750SH. About as good as MM gets (in my opinion) and fits the "neutral and articulate" brief perfectly.
Phono stage for 0.2mv cartridge? My Allnic H-1202 has 72dB gain (40dB MM tube stage + 32dB from transformer) and it works wonderfully well with my Benz Ebony TR which has an output of 0.14mV. No discernible noise at any volume I'm capable of listening to.
Kuzma Stabi Reference vs Avid Acutus Brinkmann Balance and Bergmann Galder ought to be worth a look. Nottingham Analogue Dais too, unless it's too cheap.....
Anyone listen/own to the Yamaha GT-5000 Turntable? As the kids put it: LOL |
