what replaced your Aerial 7B speakers?
For what your budget is I don’t think you’re going to find anything new or used that’s going to crush your 7B’s; now if you’re just wanting a different sound altogether that’s a different thing. Your post started out looking for a speaker with a l...

Or better yet, the sub to match with a pair of 7B’s... the AA SW12 maybe. With your size of room you may not get the bottom end you’re looking for regardless of what speaker you try. You’re room is 16’ deep so you’re going to probably be around 35...

My Personal Gift The Luxman PD-171 A Turntable.
Nice thread. Congrats indeed.
Anyone had the equipment customized ?
Back when I was much younger and was just starting to build a system with separate components with my first pair a Magnepans, I couldn’t keep my hand off the soldering iron. I would mod everything and with the modest equipment I had in those days ...
Just bought a Marantz PM6006, and it it disappointing
You may end up not liking the Marantz house sound in the end. Years ago I really wanted to fall in love with a PM15 S1 but it just didn’t do it for me. I took home both a Cambridge 840A and the Marantz but much preferred the 840A. On my Apogee Cen...

The bases AA sold as an option were made by Sound Anchor. When I called AA they no longer stocked them and they got me in contact with Sound Anchor which they made a set for me at the original price. Same ones as on this link.https://www.audiogon....

Not sure what ozzy62 was using for an amp but the 7Bs really need 200 watts min. and I found 250 is still better.I use a single run of Wywires Silver then biwire at the speakers with same jumpers. Can’t speak for your outriggers but I did look int...
Audio Research LS-15...time to upgrade or just keep retubing
Been a long time since I’ve listened to a LS15 but in its day it was a really nice preamp. Not sure what a GNS goes for on the used market but a stock one $13-1500, so maybe the GNS $2,000? Hard to believe it’s been 25 years! The latest ARC preamp ...
Speakers
Vandersteen 2Ce - I’d take a pair of these any day for the same money over vintage JBL’s or Klipsch which I agree are nice speakers but not up to Vandy’s IMO.

Are you using the Sound Anchor bases and have you tried to move your 7B’s back a little to the  wall? I use a Pass X250 with Wywires cables with Alex’s biwire jumpers with the + lead of the speaker cable on the bottom and the - lead on the top the...
No one actually knows how to lculate what speaker cable they need
I ended up not playing... I wanted to though as I was curious but as the thread went on I lost interest. Interesting thread and been fun to read but I agree with most and question the OP for being so secretive on his formula. Instead of blowing th...
Does any one know a cable that is able to compete with clear day double shotgun?
I doubt it . . .
Best path to upgrading older system: Thiel, Adcom, CAL Audio Lab, Thornes....
Agree to change the speakers first but if you’re happy with your Thiel’s then preamp. Been a long time since I’ve heard a pair or 1.2’s but I recall they were nice at the time.

My dad once owned the 565 preamp which was a really nice piece at the “Time” for the money and yes the phono section was its strong point. I think it’s a toss up on the 565 or the 545 but I’d probably upgrade the preamp first. I think you’ll be su...
