Whats more important? Speaker or the Amp
As you can see, there is no answer! hahaha
Opinions on Power Regenerators and Tube Amps
I use an MIT passive filter in the form of the "Z-Strip" and I noticed a rather obvious improvement in noise floor reduction. I recommend it based on several experiments where I would add it and then remove it to see the difference. It works consi...
Loud Hum from DNA 0.5
Sounds like a grounding problem to me. I would call McCormack and have them walk you through checking the grounds. I'd say it is chassis grounded and they left one disconnected off the power supply board when they reinstalled it. Or it could be DC...
why am I hearing electrical drain at shut off?
There are caps dumping in that channel. You must have a bleeder resistor to ground in parallel with the supply caps to stop that from happening. My guess is you should be looking for 5.6k or so and it should have a big and fat 5W body. There shoul...
Opinions on Power Regenerators and Tube Amps
So the buzz was a hum? That is what I had assumed. Sounds like it's due to high gain needed for phono. I would like to know if the regenerator reduces it. Otherwise, lower gain amps and/or lower sensitivity tweeters can reduce the noise to the poi...
Opinions on Power Regenerators and Tube Amps
I have never heard a tube amp that didn't buzz when your ear is at the tweeter. It is normal.Having said that, you may get an overall improvement in sound with a regenerator but since the amp is downstream, it still won't help its noise floor. Jus...
Any thoughts on Krell
Well then maybe it's time you make a change? If you feel like trying something different, by all means go for it. Part of owning very expensive equipment is believing in them. If you don't have a close connection on all levels, then it isn't the r...
Best integrated for B&W 704 and Rega Apollo
I am very familiar with the separates that make up the CAP151 and thought they were indeed excellent. For a slightly different style, McIntosh is equally good. Their MA6900 would actually be my pick over the Classe for your speakers and source. Yo...

Review: Kora Electronics Kora Explorer 150 SB Tube amp
The tube biasing doesn't apply to the 150SB - only the full tube amps like the Cosmos and Galaxy. But it is simple to bias them if you are patient. All it takes is a little time.
Which CD Players?
As Saki said, they give you tube and SS in one box! It is called the 303/300. Check it out - many reviews online about it.Arthr
A series of underperforming setups...Solution?
If you want a built-in EQ, check out the McIntosh C42/C46 preamps. I love mine and it solves this sort of problem rather well. The EQ on the 6900 won't do it - it has to be at least an 8 band for your situation.Arthur
How to Preserve New Shiny Banana Speaker Ends?
Well, if losing the gold plate bothers you, just get some MIT cables. :)Arthur
Am I the only one purchasing hybrid disc's.......
I have also noticed that the redbook layer isn't great on hybrids. That is the way it is! But I just listen to the SACD layer so it doesn't bother me.Arthur
A series of underperforming setups...Solution?
I hate to say it, but Newbee is right.Arthur
