Accuphase E-202 Integrated
I have rebuilt 3 McIntosh amps myself that were a minimum of 42 years old each. One of the amps really needed the overhaul but the other two were pretty good still with all their voltages and biases just right. Of course, with age, capacitors loos...
Accuphase E-202 Integrated
I have bought two sets of the small spade converters from that ebay Hong Kong seller for my vintage McIntosh amps. They take about 2 weeks to arrive and work great. If your amp hasn't been used much, it probably doesn't need an overhaul anytime soo...
Integrated amp up grade?

Integrated amp up grade?
Hey Warren. Welcome to the tube amp world. You should seriously consider the tube integrated offerings from Unison Research. Their Unico stole the lime light but their tube gear is, and this is the perfect word for their sound, fabulous. The S8 is...
Hail to Mcintosh
The McIntosh look is beautiful to me. I hope they never change it. The sound doesn't have the last bit of resolution, but with all negatives comes positives and the coherence and musicality is definately worth the tradeoff. It's a compromise that ...
From Krell to McIntosh - Anyone?
Synergy also includes the listener, the ear of the beholder. It is why there is no absolute.I too use MIT cables. I have yet to find something I like better although some of the vdHs give them a run for the money.
Adcom GFA-565 Capacitor Replacement
It has to be electrolytic for the main power supply caps. Easy $5 job to do yourself if you are adventurous.
How to tell.....

Sterile and hazy at the same time!? That is hilarious. I would be worried about my hearing if that was the case. But I agree that with C4s, you definately need more forwardness and treble energy than McIntosh amps will give you. Now, if you had som...
Does anyone know of the Sphinx Project 16
Their website is still up: www.sphinxlab.nl and they recently came out with revamped Myth models. I think they just don't want to deal with the US market - just like so many other European hifi specialists.
McIntosh vs. ARC
There are a number of Maggie owners here who use McIntosh amps. Search the archives and you will see.
Less filling - great taste?
If you want a small floor stander, the Monitor Audio RS6 would fit the bill.
Does anyone know of the Sphinx Project 16
Sphinx has had very spotty representation in the USA and only recently has there been a lasting distributor:http://www.mayaudio.com/cat.asp?CatID=143I think you would have to talk to Sphinx in the Netherlands directly to get information on voltage...
McIntosh vs. ARC
It will come down to personal taste. I haven't found ARC to be very involving or emotional (even their expensive models) but others probably disagree. So, you won't find your answer here. You will simply have to pick one and see if you like it.
preamp suggetions for mid lvl system
Find a good deal on a Classe CP50. Amazing preamp and I have had many. Check my "system" link for lots more info. The CP50 is never bright and is very very refined. Cost $3300 new but you can get them for around $800 now. High level performance at...
