Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
I still say there can be a lot of overlap in quality between analog- and digital-sourced systems today. This is why this thread will go on forever, like all the other vinyl vs. CD threads with 100s of posts.Arthur
Audio Aero Prima MKII v/s Unison Research Unico
Just wanted to point out that the Prima MK1 and Prima MK2 are not the same cd player at all. Lots of changes were made.Arthur
Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
In another thread, I stated the outcome of my vinyl experiment and it is everything Tgrisham said. There can be lots of overlap between analog and dgital if you take the rest of the system into account.Arthur
Will leaving an amp powered-up all the time...
I agree with Rockvirgo. I don't think the caps have anything to do with it.Amps with no global negative feedback have no choice but to let the bias drift. Without feedback, thermal changes cause an imbalance in the bias and that imbalance grows wi...
Cayin A88T break in and biasing??
Oh yes, our local Cayin dealer gets everything from VAS. I don't think there is any other way short of importing it yourself which is sure to be a disaster. There are simply different versions, that's all. His 70T came into the store back in Novemb...
No bass on BAT VK-3ix SE preamp?
Hmmm...with 100k input impedance, there shouldn't really be a bass problem. Maybe your preamp is faulty? You might need to call BAT for this one.
No bass on BAT VK-3ix SE preamp?
Holy cow! I was correct. I just looked at JA's measurements and the output impedance in the bass is 7k unbalanced and 14k balanced!! I call that a terrible design but whatever. The point is that an impedance mismatch is most likely the cause of yo...
No bass on BAT VK-3ix SE preamp?
If I remember right, those preamps have a high output impedance. If you amp's input impedance is low, your bass will get chopped off.I had a 3i with a McIntosh amp and had killer bass quantity and dynamics.Arthur
What's the frequency response of vinyl?
"The bass response of vinyl is beyond what you're capable of hearing so you need not worry" Oh how nice it would be for it to be that simple!
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
I have two: my ultra-rare Kora Aries monoblocks and my MC240 which I totally rebuilt myself.Arthur
Mac's BAD MATCH for 802D's?
Yes. The problem is, from an amp's perspective, low impedances are hard to drive - not the high ones. Many (conventional dynamic box) speakers have a low impendance in the bass and a high impedance in the upper mids and highs. The average is a ver...
earth lift resistors
A high resistance is infinitely lower resistance than no earth at all! Electrons know that very well. Glad the info was helpful to you.Arthur
Cayin A88T break in and biasing??
Hi JohnThe pics of your 70T look nothing like my buddy's. He doesn't have any bias adjustment anything. Likewise for his manual. I am beginning to think there are several variations of every model Cayin! Very confusing.Arthur
The Best Midrange in the World Right Now
I fully agree. I started off enjoying easy-going sound and progressively got more hifi. Lately though, I have taken a step "back" and love it. Transparency and dynamics can wind up unnatural if pushed too far - and many fancy, expensive systems I ...
Vitus audio?
It all depends on your speakers, sources, tastes, personality, experience, room, goals, etc. Answering this sort of question is all hand waving.Having said that, I really like Gryphon - beautiful sounding but has lots of authority too. MBL was sup...
