Whats your sound system for your computer?

Just finished redoing the surround sound on the TV. Debating doing something for my computer. Wondering if its worth it for just gaming and web browsing. No real music listening.

I think it is worth buying a powered speaker with onboard DAC since the DAC in the computer is poor.  I have PSB and Audioengine.  I returned a second set of audioengine since it wouldn't set as the default speaker and I had to go select it every time I plugged my compute in.  I contacted them and they said "we've heard about that, maybe we will fix it in a future release".  So returned them and got PSB.  Very good.  Jerry

Are you talking about something ON your DESK, or IN a room like small office?

In any case, I would solve sitting center/great imaging 1st, then what size, then quality. On desk, self powered can makes sense, unless you want tube sound, then a low powered tube amp (I use 10 wpc) to keep heat down.

I don’t like ports, if so, front not side or rear, gives better options if you move them.

I was using headphone out for years, until using USB out to DAC to amp was recommended here. Far better.

I use integrated audio from Intel Motherboard, rather than separate audio or av board, too avoid extra fan noise.

Audioengine 2+ Active Speakers on DS2 stands with a Velodyne VA68X2E Subwoofer, (1) 3' DH Labs Silversonic speaker cable.

Klipsch the Fives powered speakers, Marantz HD-DAC1 DAC / Headphone amplifier, Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro headphones.

Get a pair of AKG K341 headphones. Instant upgrade to your sound out of the PC.
