Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Actualy my most played Traffic album, it’s very accessible.

Eye in the Sky ... The Allan Parsons Project
Traffic - Far From Home

A somewhat dated but probably underrated Traffic album. Very well produced.

Today I am listening to some very high quality early stereo albums from the old Command Record Label.  These were recorded in 1961 and 1962.  The name of the album(s) is(are) Provocative Percussion 3 & 4.  They are available on Tidal, but not Qobuz.

It it brings back old memories.  I used to listen with my father in the early days of stereo.  It is difficult to believe this quality was possible more than 55 years ago.  They were recorded on 35mm film rather than magnetic tape which they claim ,because of the sprockets, eliminates  flutter and wow.

My goodness, I was all over the place today.

Started the day with 2 live performances of the Berliner Philharmoniker (Digital Concert Hall subscription) of Shoenberg Violin Concrto and Orchestra, op. 36 by violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and Tchaikovsky Symphony #5, both conducted by Kirin Potrenko. The second performance was 4 pieces by Patricia Kopatchinskaja and was very unique, to say the least. All that was my system in HT mode, in other words, both listening and watching live.

After that, I flipped over to 2 channel and played 4 albums on vinyl, 3 Byrd’s; Fifth Dimension, The Notorious Byrd Brothers, and Sweetheart of the Rodeo. The 4th vinyl was Neil Young; On The Beach.

Then turned on the CD player and finished with CD#7 of the Royal Concertbegouw Anthology Set #5 of Schreker, Skryabin, Verese, and two by Escher.

Hows that for diversity?
Art Blakey, Moanin, Blue Note re-issue. Great music and recording. I am so sick of buying re-issues that sound like they are being played through oatmeal.
Thank you for sharing that David. Feeling kind of envious about where you live. Right now we still have snow on the ground. Last week it was single digit cold outside. My wife & I will more than likely move somewhere warmer in a few years.

uber, That is a great album from them, which is odd as most bands tend to burn out toward the end of there existence.

Worm is green / Automagic
Avalon ... Roxy Music.

Quboz.

Even though " only " 16/44 the sq on this album is sublime.
Boxer:  Came across this article in the local paper, yesterday. The photo is from City Park, very close to where I live. Touches on The Revivalists.

The Revivalists / Live: Fall 2013
Tonight is the first time I've heard this band. Reading up on them, they are from New Orleans. Along the lines of Dave Matthews but they have a sound of their own. Highly recommended
Thx Nutty!

I just recorded an album on it from Quboz hires and it sounds REAL good played back so heads are in great shape.

One reason I took a chance, these glassxtal heads in the Akai of that time period are near indestructible!

And it looks ultra cool as it stands on end and looks all the world like a mini R2R player! Fact it would be cool to have an Akai R2R right next to it!

Good times ahead.......
Thank you ozzy, I agree. "Gold" is great and rarely played. Stevie and Lindsay get an honorable mention.

Fun fact: John Stewart also wrote the Monkees #1 hit "Daydream Believer".

uberwwaltz, nice score on the Akai!

Repeat Offender ... Richard Marx.

Cassette on my new to me Akai GXC-510D deck.

1974 and still has protective plastic on the top of it. Real time capsule. It might even sound just about as sweet as my Nakamichi 582. Not bad for $55!.
