Scored a few NM- T Bone Burnett records for $2 each at a flea market today: Proof Through The Night, T Bone Burnett and Truth Decay. Cleaned them on my new VCS and have been listening to them all evening. A perfect Sunday.
Nice score 16f4! Which pressing of Truth Decay did you get, the one by Chrysalis or Allegiance? The song "Driving Wheel" has a "false" ending---the song ends, the sound slowly decaying to silence. The song then starts back up again, playing out as the recording slowly fades. The original Chrysalis pressing includes the song's restart, but when the album was remastered for the Allegiance pressing, the mastering engineer apparently didn't know about the tag, and the song doesn't start up again! Great album, as is the s/t one on MCA.

I was very fortunate to get it at 25% off, right before SSD went under! Shew!!!!!. Even though mine is a second pressing, I absolutely love it! He sure was an excellent songwriter, no doubt! Most bands peak,...he and his bandmates just kept getting better!

That Aretha is very, very good. I really like that record. I am kinda curious if AP will put out a pressing in 200gram 33rpm at some point. If so I want to compare.
For some silly reason I just bought a turntable from a guy on the forum? I am not bright. Now I have to find a dang cart for it. Should have probably just bought more AP records and the TP box set.
@slaw I bought an EAT C-Sharp and will be putting the cart that is typically factory fitted on it, an Ortofon Quintet Black. I got to hear one a while back at a local shop but the shop changed hands and they no longer stock the EAT gear so I was looking online. I was comparing it to a Rega P6 and the EAT was extremely impressive and is drop dead gorgeous, work of art from a design perspective. Big change from my current table.
At 63 and just getting back into vinyl, was able to save about 75 out of 300 of my lp's from the 70's. For all of you that are from that time frame I hope you can relate. I have around 3000 CD's so I love music. After spending $400.00 to tune up my old Thorens TD 160 that I bought new back in 1974 for $200.00 or so I'm in a new place. I'm in a completely new place listening to the rest of the albums we never played 40 some years ago. Back then it was one song and then another album, all about the beat to match our heart rate. I now enjoy everything I missed from my favorite artists. Also spending some money on old lp's I ruined being young and wasted. Won't buy anything that isn't rated a near mint or below. Bad thing I missed so much great music way back when but I'm being rewarded by the reintroduction of so much great stuff. Any of you that understand?
@golden210 Congrats on getting the Thorens back up to speed. Those 160s are still coveted by a lot of folks. Getting back to vinyl can be fun. Suggest keeping your eyes open for some of the reissues out now. Some of them are better than the originals.
I, like you, want/demand value from my hard earned money that I put into music reproduction. This exact same set-up (minus cart) was compared to TTs costing over $10k in the Stereophile review. As you pointed out, they are artwork!
"Synchronicity" is an EX sounding lp in parts, (as you eluded to). I just always skip over "Miss Gradenko". ………………………………………………………..
