Just checking in.  Jim suggested I was still welcomed to lurk even though I’ve gone digital.

Happy New Years everyone!

RIP John Prine.   I remember when I found my first John Prine albums In an old barn And bought them for 3/$5.   Fell in love with his music right then and there.  His final album, The Tree of Forgiveness, has a great song called “When I Get To Heaven”.  I’ll be listening tonight.

“When I get to heaven, I'm gonna shake God's hand/
Thank him for more blessings than one man can stand/
Then I'm gonna get a guitar and start a rock 'n' roll band/
Check into a swell hotel; ain't the afterlife grand?/
And then I'm gonna get a cocktail: vodka and ginger ale/
Yeah, I'm gonna smoke a cigarette that's nine miles long/
I'm gonna kiss that pretty girl on the tilt-a-whirl/
'Cause this old man is goin' to town”
Hey, everyone!  Haven’t been here for a while since I sold my record collection.  But saw this on Steve Guttenberg ‘s Audiophiliac feed and thought it might bring a smile to your faces:

Uberwaltz, we currently live in southern Maryland.  The move will take us into Washington DC.  Since my wife can retire in three years, we want to enjoy city life until we move on again.
Uberwaltz, thanks for the regards.  This is a positive situation for my wife and me; she was offered a great job,  so we will sell our house and rent in the city to improve her commute.  Even though I am moving on from vinyl our live music options will be phenomenal!
Well, it’s been a while since I was able to post.  A heck of a holiday season, with lots of visitors and visiting.   Unfortunately, life has taken a surprising turn necessitating a major move/downsizing and selling my record collection and turntable.   I did just purchase a Bluesound Node 2i streamer so the music will continue.  You guys all have great taste, so I do plan on logging in to see what everyone is listening to. Good luck all and great listening!
Slaw, have family visiting this weekend, so no private time in the basement man cave for me tonight.  Just saw your question about Stealers Wheel.  My copy is a Pitman first pressing from 1972.  The album is NM and the cover VG+. Still sounds wonderful.  I literally stumbled over it recently at a buddy’s house while helping his widow organize their basement.
Stealers Wheel - S/T.  Have to admit I got it for “Stuck In The Middle With You”, but gotta say I’m loving the album.  Heartfelt songs and great SQ!
Bar-Kay’s - Soul Finger
Brian Eno/David Byrne ‎– My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts
Bobbi Humphrey - Blacks and Blues
Never heard of the Hellecasters. I will have to look them up...after I get through my recent jazz accumulation.
Thank you, tomic601.   Paul had a stroke a few years back but always seemed to be enthusiastic about a new find. A kind gentle friendly soul.
Dusty Springfield - Dusty In Memphis.   Got this yesterday from a fellow flea market record collector who passed away suddenly.  Helping his widow sort through his collection for sale.  Bought a few from her to listen to.  RIP Paul Yeager.
Sun Ra- The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra OP
Tommy McCook - Greater Jamaica Moon Walk -Reggay
Thelonious Monk - Criss Cross
Uberwaltz, I hope you have reconsidered.  As an intermittent poster I always like going back a few days to see your commentary and follow the string.  I too get frustrated with keyboard courage in other forums, but love the fact it does not see so prevalent on this one.  Just today I had a run in with a reseller....the type that knows the price of records but not the value of music. And I came here for a bit of camaraderie to fight off the black dog.  It is always nice to see what everyone is listening to and pull out a neglected LP.
Went on a record buying tour of Amsterdam this week.  Convinced my wife we were on an anniversary vacation.  🤣.  I bought a couple of records at a flea market, which I am now pretty sure are counterfeit pressings.  The SQ is not bad on either, though.

The Stooges - S/T
Nirvana - Nevermind
Duke Ellington - Black, Brown & Beige
Louis Armstrong and the All Stars - Live At Pasadena (Jan 1951 concert.  Nice duet with Velma Middleton on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” sounds less rapy than more recent versions)
Marcia Griffiths - Electric Boogie
Bobby Hebb - Sunny
The Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestral Circus - S/T
The Del Vikings- The Swinging, Singing Del Vikings
Buddy Knox - S/T
Tangerine  Dream - Ricochet
Gil Scot-Heron -  The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
Patricia Scot - Once Around The Clock

Spirit -S/T. Wow, why isn’t this recognized as a prog rock classic?
Frank Virtue and the Virtues - Rock Boogie Shuffle
The Temptations- Meet The Temptations
Otis Redding - Otis Blue
Stray Cats- S/T
Uberwaltz, I found a copy of Frigid Pink last year in a barn in Maine.  Never heard of them, but thought the cover was cool...and their cover of House of the Rising Sun intrigued me.  You are correct, it is a fabulous version.
Finally settling down to listen to some music before the holiday onslaught.   Pulled a few albums from my sorting box at random.

Judy Garland - Alone (Depressing, but good prep for the movie)
Selecter - Celebrate The Bullet
Al Stewart - The Early Years
Just received a couple of orders from Canada.  Three early records of Celine Dion that don’t seem to be available anywhere except on LP and in Canada.  I am burning them to CD for my mom, a big fan.

Céline Dion - La Voix Du Bon Dieu
Céline Dion - Chante Noël
Céline Dion - Chants Et Contes De Noël
The Selector - Celebrate The Bullet
Jerry Harrison - Casual Gods
Rush - Fly By Night
Tina Turner - Private Dancer

Ended up watching the Democratic Debate last night, so no music for me.  Appreciated Biden’s shout-out to “record players”...but at least he didn’t say “vinyls”.  My playlist today will be inspired by the candidates:

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced (Hey, Joe)
Soundtrack - The Wiz
Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman (Just about any song applies: Father and Son, Where Do The Children Play, Hard Headed Woman)
Jimmy Buffett - Attitudes and Latitudes
Styx - Styx II
Southside Johnny and the AsburyJukes- This Time It’s For Real
Prince - For You
Alhaji (Chief) Kollington Ayinla & His Fuji '78 Organization* ‎– Kolawole O Ku

Yep, hit a flea market this weekend!

Will try to play some Root Boy Slim tomorrow
Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid
Michael Hedges - Watching My Life Go By (Nice cover of “All Along The Watchtower”)
Casiopea - Eyes Of The Mind
Going through my weekend flea market haul:

Dennis Coulson - S/T
Cat Stevens - Back To Earth ( Underrated.  You can see him moving  towards jazz with “Nascimento” )
Gene Cotton - Save The Dancer ( Lovely soft rock album. I don’t think I have listened to it since it was released in 1978.  Nice duet with Kim Carnes on “You’re A Part Of Me)
Doobie Brothers - The Captain And Me
Samantha Sang - Emotion

so, let me ask you...when I find sealed records I like to slit them open and smell the inside.  Is that weird?

ELO - Face The Music.   Bought it today from a regular dealer, who suggested I play the first track, “Fire On High”, for the secret message.  Digitized it and used Audacity to play it in reverse.  Sure enough, the secret message was there.
Booker T and The MGs - Best of
Stéphane Grappelli ‎– Stéphane Grappelli Plays Jerome Kern
The Drifters - The Good Life
Going through some Cajun music I bought last week:

Modern Jazz Quartet - European Concert
Chuck Berry - St. Louis to Liverpool
Roland Kirk - Gifts & Messages

Lightnin’ Hopkins, et al - The Blues Box
Just got back from a vacation in Seattle.  Never did get to West Seattle, but did hit a few record stores in Capital Hill (usually adjacent to a store my wife wanted to check out...she’s understanding, but she has her limits).  No purchases, but I did get a sense of the local market.
Finally settling in today and catching up on music.
Jefferson Airplane- Surrealistic Pillow
Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
Won’t get a chance to listen to a record tonight, but wonder If anyone has recommendations for records shops in Seattle?
