Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
The Built For Spill "Live" lp is highly recommend. Side two IS The best cover of Cortez The Killer.....ever!
@bkeske
Brian,

....(at the time a dedicated Dead Head hippy)...

Yeah, when I was in college, the Dead were the favorite band of the boozers and stoners.  Sounds like you moved along once you discovered The Modern Lovers.

For me, it was being introduced to Frank Zappa, Thunderclap Newman and Captain Beefheart.  I dropped The Dead and moved right along.

It helped that I was working at a television post production facility during that time.  Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band dropped by one day to videotape a performance for a local TV station.  I became a true convert that day.  Now if I could only find the U-Matic video cassette of the performance......

@slaw - I’m in Boundary Waters. Just getting ready to put the canoes in the water for a week of camping and fishing.
Thanks for asking! Happy Independence Day to you and all.
Hi Steve,

Sounding great! I was between speakers for several weeks, but they finally arrived, so happy days are here again. Really missed spinning records.
@waltersalas ,

Marty S / Fab. Superlatives. - Way Out West

EJ casts a long musical influence shadow….fun
Playing the Mudcrutch lp.....
I checked the EMI meter this morning, read 100mV

Just noticed how much better disc 2 sounded. Checked the meter again, read 72mV.

This difference is easily heard.
Lover of the Bayou from Mudcrutch. LOVE this song and Tom's interpretation.
Hi Steve - yep, 2x MyMat w. Hana = no reflex clamp. The ML is an incredible cart, if not overly “ polite “…
Neil Young "Young Shakespeare"

Wasn't going to get this at first since I had "Massey Hall", but after hearing it at a friend's house, I decided to buy. It has some different songs than Massey, that sealed the deal for me. Great SQ!
@slaw

The Tekton Encores were my previous speakers, now in the system of a very happy audiophile in Houston, who drove halfway across the country to pick them up at my house a few weeks ago.

I moved on to Fyne Audio F704s, which I auditioned in April at Suncoast Audio in Florida. I listened for two hours and bought them on the spot. They arrived a week ago and are still breaking in, but I am very pleased with them.

Now Playing:

Leonard Cohen, "Old Ideas"

Gov’t Mule "Live @ the Capitol Theatre" Vol 1

Interesting that I finally got Vol 1 after first getting Vol 3 then 2 ...???

You got to turn it up!
Lucinda Williams- Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone-ok sound
SRV-The Essential- 2016 RE-Sounds Great

The Dire Straits Album is probably the best sounding recording that I have heard on my system.

Fat Freddy’s Drop-(based on a true story) album
or Dr Boondigga and the BW album
or Blackbird album

Crank that up kinda loud and you just might poop your pants.
Yoo gotta crank it and have the speakers for it .....If You do
. What a Treat IMO
oops I meant to say about Fat Freddy's Drop.
I was streaming those through YouTube Premium, at 384Khz 32bit.
Not sure , but I think a recent update to Win10 (insider program) allows me to upsample to 32bit @ 384kHz.
That choice came up in my setup for my playback device on the pc and it works and sound great

@grey9hound

I think My Fav so far  is Shiverman off of Dr Boondigga.

😁😁😁
John Lee Hooker, Hoochie Coochie Man.
Sara Vaughan with Clifford Brown
Max Roach Quartet, Speak Brother Speak!

@waltersalas  Those Fyne speakers look great.  If they sound as good as they look then, right on, do enjoy them.  When I first saw them I thought to myself, "hmm, looks like a brother to Tannoy"  And now you explained it.  Makes sense.

Talking Heads  'Little Creatures'

Paul Simon  'There Goes Rhymin' Simon'  I got my first real hi-fi in January of 1973.  This album came out a few months later and it is one of my first new album purchases.  I have had it and cherished it ever since.  In perfect condition, it sounds wonderful.

Paul Simon  'Graceland'  25th Anniversary Edition.  Wonderful album. Outstanding reissue, SQ is just fantastic!
Frank Sinatra sings Rodgers and Hart
Capital mono 1962

Linda Ronstadt
Lush Life
Asylum 1984
@grey9hound ,

Lucinda Williams "Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone"

There’s one song where the bass is down low and perfect!!!!

I will have issues with you going forward if you think the SQ is just OK on this lp.
Just went upstairs for about a half hour or so. Sounds like a war zone up there tonight... Back to music

Turkish Delight / Tommy Bell
