@slaw

Just saw your post, must have missed it earlier. So sorry for your loss.

And

@tomic601

Not sure you were aware of, or knew who Michael Stanley (Michael Stanley Band) was when you were growing up in NW Ohio, but he passed away today at 72. Sadly, he had many medical issues over the last few years. ‘The’ local Cleveland rock legend is gone (some Joe Walsh fans may take issue with that moniker). Kinda hard to believe. Damn, I’m getting old.
Thanks Brian.

"TMSB" rings a bell for me. Will have to look him up to find out why.

Yep, 80's radio rock
Steve : OP, bought from personal collection of a record store owner as he neared retirement, he had a bin behind counter the last year and was culling his collection w specific customers in mind - always priced at mid range of premium but pristine wax and covers, my Talking Heads 77 same deal.

Brian - Yes I remember liking MSB for awhile before going off to prep skool and discovering bands beyond the Cleveburg radio scene- I don’t mean this badly just that a scene can be restrictive....
@slaw  Sounds like he was a good boss.  Sorry for your loss.   Do you find consolation in your music today?
James,.

He was a good man, great boss.

I chose those descriptives carefully.
There are in a thirty year career a few bosses I would cry for.....grace and peace Steve.
Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior

i hear Al is doing private shows at his home, details at his website, so says the older brother
I hope all of you own "Okonokos". Such a Great live set.

I don’t mean this badly just that a scene can be restrictive....

No offense taken. Personally I was more a James Gang fan for local Cleveand ‘rockers’, and later Pere Ubu. Never really understood the incredible attraction he and his band had. But, Michael *was* a good guy, loved everything Cleveland, (thus his loyal local following), was more than happy to be in that ‘restrictive’ Cleveland scene, and never left it. Became a DJ for WNCX classic rock station for years.
u guys are the scene now...so many artists and bands outside my wheelhouse....logging in is always a learning experience......
I finally found "my best" Future Games in the re-mastered box from last year.
Speaking of learning experiences, today I’ve spent some time letting one thing lead to another on the streamer. My interest in the band Spiritualized led me to this band I’d heard of but don’t think I ever listened carefully to before: Secret Machines. I read that they opened for Spiritualized on one tour. Their first LP, “Now Here is Nowhere” is seriously good. A little bit space rock but well crafted and very good sounding music. A little progressive, a little alt. Punk but most importantly it rocks.
James - I will put them on list for tomorrow:-) thx for tip. signing out....
Sounds tasty James!

Sorry Jim, I hope we didn’t run you off bro. This is my "back to work" party night.
Steve, get the new Fruit Bats record yet?  Anyway, surprisingly it was only $19.  Not many new records for less than $20 these days.
Spirit,
I'll check out "Secret Machines". Thanks for the recommendation. Love "Spiritualized" BTW.

@boxer12, I remember that Tim.  I think you’d like this.  They are definitely Pink Floyd fans.  Can’t say they’re showy musicians but I like their sound.
@spiritofradio, @boxer12,

I mentioned this one last year...such a great record...

Sophia Pfister "Birdcage"

Available only through her website
Yes!  Steve, if you do a search you’ll see I actually posted about Sophia awhile back, even before you found her.  At the time, Tomic and I discussed her in contrast to some other more traditional audiophile oriented female vocalists.   I asserted that although she couldn’t be more different, the sound she achieves on (both) her albums is incredibly good.   It’s funny, I’m guessing you came across her through association with Dave Alvin.  And in fact I started paying more attention to him after learning he produced her record.   I really think it sounds good.
Wasn’t hiding Fruit Bats. Just came out. Side one is sweet. Not too hipster. It has that sweetness, you know. It sort of puts me in mind of Clem Snide in a way (more than his earlier stuff I mean).
This belongs on the top shelf with Iron & Wine.

Actually, I found her by accident, by watching some Stereophile videos with the Asian girl, their videographer. She mentioned "SP". Then I did my search.
Ah!  Then I guessed wrongly.  I’ll say though that Alvin knows how to get good sound out of a laptop recording.
I think I first heard about her from a Fremer blurb.   Didn’t know stereophile put out videos.  Will check that out.  janna?  The one with the binaural dummy head? She had her own channel for awhile that was great.  Now I just see her on a couple other of those gear reviewers videos.
+1 @Big_Greg glad to know you’re one of the lucky few to own that record.  It’s sure a good one.

@slaw yeah, she’s a sweetheart and into stereo gear....  there’s a video on Steve Guttenberg’s channel which is an interview of her by him.  I assume it’s still up but he really got a lot of jibing comments over it.   In it he is totally flirting with her and seems like he’s plastered.
