@uberwaltz,

What about your EquaCore? Does it not gel with the PPT stuff?
Slaw
I sold the Equicore a while back to another member here, Lowrider if I remember right.
And no it really did not gel with the Gate installed.
Much better dynamics once I removed the Equicore from my system.
Uber,

Was looking at your system page. Where's the Musical Surroundings phono?
Every version of side 2 of Kind of Blue I own... six eye mono, six eye stereo and classic records 200g. I’m on my second pass and it turns out each one is better than the last. Go figure.
Eagles - Desperado

This album did not do well commercially. Β Not sure why - maybe public not ready for a theme based album. Β IMHO, I think there are quite a few really good tracks. Β
Slaw
I went back with a phono I had owned couple years back and foolishly moved on from it.
Goldnote ph10.
Very much doubt I will be giving it up a second time.
With a SR Blue fuse in it and 4 ppt ecards it is blacker than black background.
Did a deep clean on "Pretzel Logic". Picked it up at a record show a while back. Was marked as 1st pressing. It is the ABC black label but I’m not an expert on the matrix numbers. Yesterday, the first track sounded much darker than the rest of the album. I thought overall it could or should be more open. We’ll see.

That really helped.... nodding head/tapping feet now!
Have to cheat a little here but it’s still analog.

Two Against Nature ..... Steely Dan.

Cassette.
@uberwaltz,

Regarding compatibility.....before I installed the Omega+ mats in my breaker box, I already had Bybee iQSEs inside all major components and 8 HFC MC 0.5s. After reading those two products weren’t compatible with the PPT stuff, I removed all of the HFC stuff to great effect. Dynamics increased. Not to say they are inferior, just not compatible.

The other day I removed the iQSEs out of my phono stage and installed Herbie’s tube dampers. Could tell a slight increase in dynamics.

Last evening, was fooling around with the two iQSEs I had extra and began placing them everywhere in my system. Could easily tell they had a darkening effect except when I put them on top of the VPI motor housing.

Lots of fun!

Pretty neat stuff these tweaks.
As well as The Gate.....
I have two Omega plus mats, two regular Omega mats and about 30 ecards which are really nice to use on smaller items like LPS and inside the phono etc..
Oh and enough tc paste to paint a battleship!
Have two unopened tubes out in the freezer.
”Have you tried mixing up the rotation?”

@slaw Β No... I guess I was pretty rigid in playing chronologically. BUT... I started last first! For what it’s worth, other than the unfortunate surface noise, I seem to always find the original mono most compelling.

@pastoriuos,

Well that makes more sense to me, anyway. Usually, however, mono records are fairly quiet IME.

The Lou Reed set is fantastic!
@tomic601,

I guess you meant to write (anybody) instead of (August body)?

I get scads of records from time to time at yard/estate sales, and just start through cleaning and playing them when I have the time.Β  If I'm there I select them, and other times they want rid of them I just grab the whole bunch.Β  A lot of them end up going to Goodwill.Β  Sinatra "the Wee Small Hours", "The Graduate" soundtrack, "Sing with the Four Roses Society" (bunch of singalong standards), Kenny Rogers' Greatest Hits, Poco's "Indian Summer", Herb Alpert's "What Not My Love".Β  I'm not keeping any of these, either because they're in such poor condition or I just don't like them.Β  Strangely enough, I listened to and kept a couple of The New Christie Minstrel's albums, which I would've never picked out on my own.
I just bought a turntable, phono preamp and speakers so just starting to build my vinyl collection.Β  Since I need to justify what I spent to others what classical vinyls have the very best SQ?Β

I think HP of all people nailed it when he noted that digital reproduction effects a high pass filter albeit at a very low frequency which seems to rob the music of its natural ambiance. The bass drops off a cliff, metaphorically speaking. You don’t hear it as lack of bass per se.
@lewmΒ  In a nutshell, vinyl has more bandwidth than Redbook. On the bottom end its only limited by the mechanical resonance of the playback. On the top end it can go out well past 50KHz, although my cutter is bandwidth-limited at about 42KHz.
There you go Slaw

Welcome to the wonderful world of vinyl, hope you visit often.
But as to your specific request not really my area, sure we have some classical experts here though.
I would also try a search of the threads as I am sure I remember a thread along those lines fairly recently in fact.

This thread may be of interest.
