I was experiencing low output in the right speaker. My model 7 is 56 years old and bone stock. Problem has occurred in the past and usually mitigated using a bit-o-de-ox fader lube in the output pot and giving it a few turns. Not this time. Out of frustration I unboxed the Luxman L-550 A II. I love the phono stage!
Problem solved.
Along with the output pot, the rca connectors are rather worn and I’ve thought about upgrading them. I’m torn as I believe modifying it would diminish its value.However, I bought it to listen to. Most of you seem like reasonable, rational people 😎. If you care to share an opinion, I’m all ears.

Puttin’ on my just US cleaned copy of,
The Young Rascals "Groovin’" MFSL/45rpm/mono
I wanted to be very fair to this album as I’ve heard very different impressions of this lp so far. So, I put fresh water in the Vibrato. After a 25 min clean, there is lots of noticeable "skim or scale’ floating in the water. Anyone who says there’s no need to clean a new lp is just wrong.
Lp 1, side one, seems very flat, slight surface noise on the first track of the mostly blank side one. Two short songs! SQ really good so far. Nice depth and seeming spaciousness for a mono record. No hint of brightness or etch.
Side 2, Really sounding very, very good. I would bet it sounds better than a mint original? The clarity is somewhat stunning. Keep wishing the bass/drums were more prominent.
Lp 2, side one. This lp isn’t as flat. Both lps are centered nicely. So far the only product complaint is the not perfectly quiet vinyl.
Should mention I'm listening through my stereo Sussurro w/ mono button on phono pre.

Thanks for taking the time to compare the two versions of Are You Experienced. It sounds like the UHQR release is well worth the cost. I hope you at least enjoyed the listening session.
In reference to Pictures At An Exhibition I have the MoFi version also and while I enjoy the entire album I could listen to Promenade and The Sage back to back about 10 times without tiring of it. Greg Lake's crown jewel.

ELP - Pictures At An Exhibition MoFi Original Master Recording. ELP was mentioned on this thread a few days ago. I forgot that I have this copy. This is the first light of day it has seen in about 35 years. I'll soon again play it at night, with the lights down. It's really good!

Jimi Hendrix - The Jimi Hendrix Experience Today I played both of my copies, back to back (just for you). The Hendrix Family reissue is very good, and certainly has plenty of bass. However, compared to the UHQR issue, well there practically is no comparison. The new UHQR is much smoother, all around. Top to bottom, the frequency range is much more coherent. There are details of musical information that I have not heard in past years. I first listened to it about 10 days ago and was not as impressed as I was today. This is by far the best issue of this album. And dead quiet vinyl. I am so glad to have this in my collection.

Had a great gathering of What’s On Your TT thread compatriots yesterday at Casa Pacifica. @mammothguy54 aka Joel caught and made Bluefin sushi and sa@nicks25 aka Nick was kind to bring a fantastic desert ;-) No Cherry pie gummed up the spinning vinyl!
Great times, wide variety of music including some recent mono purchases by Joel.

Concerning the Muddy Waters Folk Singer album:
As far as I know the first "audiophile" remaster/repress of the album was that of Mobile Fidelity, released in 1994. There is no mention of the mastering engineer on the LP's gatefold cover. I've never heard an original 1964 Chess pressing, nor the Analogue Productions issue or the 1-Step, so have no idea how they rate relative to one another. I mention the MoFi for those who happen to see a copy in the wild at a good price

What are your thoughts when comparing the Hendrix Family QRP copy vs the UHQR copy of Are You Experienced?
I have a pretty early original Reprise copy that's probably VG+ and recently purchased the Hendrix Family copy and find the new QRP pressing to be near equally as good as my original copy with all around good bass, mid, and highs. Minimal difference if any. I was tempted to order the UHQR copy but am very satisfied with the new QRP copy.

@roadwhorerecords (love that moniker) That is a very interesting comparison you are undertaking. Please do post about your experience and perceived differences. I have an original pressing of Unplugged and it's so good that I find no reason to justify purchasing the OneStep. I have a copy of Folk Singer from AP/QRP 45rpm and it too is so good that I can't justify buying it again on OneStep. I have Are You Experienced reissue from the Jimi Hendrix Family Edition Series (pressed at QRP) and also the new UHQR. I find the UHQR to be exceptionally detailed but a bit on the "thin" side of tonal quality. Too bad that my very early US pressing was thrashed during my high school years.
I am very interested in your evaluations and I imagine most people on this thread are as well. Thank you for your insights.

That's a BS response from Friday Music. I mean really, they won't disclose if the source they use to master the pressing is from the analog tape or a digital file? I have a difficult time justifying buying from them again. No wonder my copy from them of School Days (Stanley Clark) sounds more brittle than my original copy, an early US press. The vinyl is much quieter, but the SQ on the original is better.

Jane Live At Home is excellent.
I had streamed a few of their more recent live albums that were also good but this one was not available streaming and I've wanted the LP for some time. I scored a great NM early copy on eBay with zero wear or noise so the original owner took very good care of this album for many years.
The SQ is very good for a live album and the band and music is great. I'm a big fan of progressive rock and they are not quite like any other band that I am familiar with.
I think I saw you post this album a number of months ago that initially got my interest. Much appreciated.
