Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Of Monsters & Men "Fever Dream"  SQ = EX! Soundstage is full, wide and airy. Almost borderless....as usual.
@slaw - Wish I had seen those Paul McCartney LPs on Insound. Just checked, nothing there now.

Just playing "Monolith" for the first time. So far, so good.......
Kansas "Monolith"

Played it last weekend and decided to go another round. One of my all time favorite bands.

@bdp24, IMO, some nice drum work on "How My Soul Cries Out For You".
Paul McCartney "Red Rose Speedway" the latest re-mastered/expanded edition/2017/18?
............................................
@reubent

According to my (cleaning notes), I bought this one in 2017. Time sure does fly by...............
" Lazy Dynamite"...it speaks to the brilliance of an artist to make a song with this title... engrossing and enjoyable.
.....from last week....re-listening to "Young in My Head" by Starflyer 59.
Rush "A Farewell to Kings" OP. Not one I’m intimately familiar with. "Closer to the Heart" was a radio hit back in the day. The first few chords are eerily similar to "2112".

This lp is sounding so good. Wondering why I never put in my quere.
@reubent

Darn good call on Rough Mix.
One of my goto for system test, it has it all in spades imho
Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School ... Warren Zevon.

Never quite got the full recognition he deserved, sad way to end as well.
@uberwaltz,

You need to get "The Wind"
..................................
I find you’re mentioning "Rough Mix" as a reference, disturbing.
Agreed it is not in the caliber of some of your recordings no doubt

But my copy was a still sealed copy and is pristine vinyl and to my ears it is very good sq.
It is not Aja or Crime of the Century but I find it is a very dynamic recording which for me is a good test, lots of good transients.

Ultimate reference recording maybe not but in my system it tells me whether changes I have wrought were for the better or not.

Like the new to me Manley Chinook SE phono stage I am trying out.....

P.S …. I try to avoid getting "the wind" at my age, it can end up being equally disturbing...…..
Marathon ... Santana.

Never heard this one before today, picked it up in an antique mall in North Carolina.

Not too shabby.
Slaw

Next up is going to be the 45rpm version of el Camino from your recommendation.
Hopefully that truly will be a reference recording.
@uber,

What "antique mall" did you visit? I’m in N.C.

Regarding "Rough Mix"...I own the Classic Records lp. Comparing it to a domestic version, the Classic loses, easily. I’d love to hear a UK pressing.
Slaw.

It was in Sanford, I was working in Aberdeen/ Pinehurst area.
2 weeks before I was in Wilmington.

Maybe the UK vs Classic version is part of the difference I perceive on on Rough Mix.
Please let me know what your impressions are of the 45rpm ’El Camino".
Slaw
Not got round to it yet.... lol

Married with kid, need I say more...…..
Tonight as soon as everybody in the house has quit pestering me!
Finally....

El Camino ... The Black Keys.

45rpm.

First time ever played my main TT at 45rpm ... Lol.

Good job I set both 33 and 45 with a strobe through the Walker controller when I got it.
Much easier than swapping belt onto different pulley.

Woah!

Darn.

Might have to invest in a few more 45rpm remasters if this is how they sound.

Thx @slaw .

Big thumbs up on this combined with the Chinook equal Ubervana!
@uberwaltz @slaw - My thoughts on "Rough Mix". Mine is the original US Release - MCA 2295. The sound quality is pretty good, and as a whole I like it quite a bit. However, it does sound a bit dis-jointed. It's like they took some cuts from a Pete Townshend record and some cuts from a Ronnie Lane album and mixed them up on a combo album. Then, at the end, the last cut - "Till the Rivers all Run Dry", doesn't sound like either Pete Townshend, or Ronnie Lane. Regardless, I like it. There are several winners in the mix.
Our local FYE have a 50% sale on a lot of vinyl today.

Picked up a few goodies, always nice to play virgin vinyl!.
