@bslon Regarding Galaxie 500.... do you have any Luna? I bought a Dean Wareham solo record a couple years ago.
I am in good company here. I play Muldaur's s/t quite often. There's some musical mashup in my head featuring Midnight at the Oasis and Heart's Magic Man. Something about the hook, I dunno, feels in a way like a hollar-back.
I'm a huge Croz fan and he really left us with some gifts before he departed. His last record may be my second favorite of his solos.
I'm spinning Steely Dan's Everything Must Go. Played often. |
@slaw: Speaking of Jackpot Records LP’s Steve, in 2022 they reissued an album I love:
- Shake Some Action by The Flamin’ Groovies. Produced by Dave Edmunds in 1976, the recorded sound is far from audiophile in quality, but that was intentional. The album was intended to recreate the sound of the British Invasion, and Lord almighty does it! Musically as well as sonically. Even the album cover picture captures the look of mid-60’s England. The Groovies tastes are very specific, limited to 1950’s Rock ’n’ Roll, Phil Spector mega-Pop, and the 1960’s British Invasion, The Beatles and Stones in particular. My favorite Garage Band album by my favorite Garage Band (that label not used in the pejorative sense, it’s meant as a compliment). The thread on the Hoffman Forum (I just now read it) regarding the album is worth reading. The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales, where Edmunds recorded his own first three albums (engineering the first two, and playing and singing almost all the parts). Dave is an expert at creating the recorded sound The Groovies were after, and the album is pure joy! One of my Top 10 albums. This reissue was mastered and the lacquers cut by Kevin Gray from the original analogue master tapes.

Hey thanks @bdp24 . I’ll put that one in my ora. Currently have the first two Meters records in my cart. I need help 🤗 |
@bdp24 , Regarding "recorded sound" at a certain time ...I get it. Most times these days, I’m drawn to that....at least I appreciate it |
@slaw:
Hey Steve, does Jackpot add sales tax to your orders? If you're buying enough on one order to make it worthwhile, I could pick them up for you at the Jackpot brick-and mortar retail store in Portland. Oregon has no sales tax! I have kept some of the good LP mailing cartons I've received orders in, and could mail them to you via USPS Media Mail---Eric.

@bdp24 , It’s one or the other brother. Probably isn't worth the effort man I appreciate the offer Eric. |
Richard Clayderman-Amour Side 2 SQ* Lou Monte-Spotlight On(DLP -149) Side A Crusaders-Ghetto Blaster-Side 2 SQ* Herb Alpert-The Lonely Bull Side 1 Victoria De Los Angeles-A World Of Song(S 36296) Side 1 SQ Audiophile Lee Ritenour-Branded Together Side 1 Victor Herbert-The Immortal Victor Herbert/Robert Shaw) Side 1 SQ Audiophile George Benson-Living Inside Your Love Side 4 SQ* All 8 recording were unplayed, Finally played a dreaded dollar bin King Clayderman and was pleasantly surprised, but 1 album is enough. I will give Victoria the SQ Crown tonight, not easy recording an operatic soprano. All 3 Fusion Jazz recordings had excellent content despite Ritenour having an abrasive digital edge. |
Richard Thompson-Across A Crowded Room Side B Freddie Jackson-Rock Me Tonight Side 2 Daryl Hall/John Oates-ST Side A SQ* Rimsky-Korsakov/Ormandy(MS 6092) Side 1 SQ* ABBA-Greatest Hits Vol. 2 Side 2 Gordon Lightfoot-Shadows Side 2 Patrice Rushen-Anthology Side 1 SQ* Bon Jovi-Slippery When Wet Side A Only ABBA/Bon Jovi were previously played. Rare occasion where nothing made Audiophile status. Ormandy 6/Eye gets the edge as tonight’s SQ best. Surprisingly very good late(1982) Lighfoot recording, Triangle is a very strong track. Excellent Thompson album only wish it was recorded better. Freddie Jackson is easily a Top 5 Male R&B vocalist of the 1980’s. |
@slaw +1 Hatchet is one of my favorite live recordings of the 1980's. |
