"we're the cold hand sliding down your warm shirt we're the last of the rock n roll soldiers we're the bad man comin but it won't hurt we're the m#therfu%^in rock n roll soldiers"
He's miserable and I am miserable We are miserable Can't we have a party Does he wanna have a party After all we have to sit here And he's already drinking a beer I wanna ask him what's his name But I can't 'cause I'm so afraid Of the man on the train.
"Time it was. And what a time it was... A time of innocense, A time of confidences. Long ago...it must be... a photogragh. Preserve your memories, They're all that's left of you".
"America" complete lyrics
Springsteen' "Thunder Road" "The sreen door slams, Mary her dress waves, Like a vision she dances accross the floor as the radio plays."
"Tunnel Of Love" "Fat man sitting On a little stool, Takes the money from my hand while his eyes take a walk all over you".
We would zig zag away through the boredom & pain, Ocassionally glancing up through the rain, wondering which of the buggers to blame, And watching for pigs on the wing.
What an awesome thread! I could read these posts all night!
"Now I know she ainÂ’t you but sheÂ’s here and sheÂ’s got that dark rhythm in her soul." - Bob Dylan, Brownsville Girl

And all the preaching voices, empty vessels ring so loud as they move among the crowds. Fools and thieves are well discussed in the temple and market place, in the temples and market place.

Just before our love got lost, you said, "I am as constant as the Northern Star". I said, "Constantly in the darkness, where's that at? - if you want me I'll be in the bar".
ItÂ’ll count the bars and tell you when The basset-hornÂ’s coming in again ItÂ’ll see you right while youÂ’re trading twelves With a synthesizer played by elves Wear this watch and youÂ’ll keep in step With Ornette Coleman and Archie Shepp Why be a loner?
I think it is so interesting tha people have such diffrent favorte lyrics. I have seen everything here from romantic lines to lyrics that get you thinking about life and even death.
Couple in the next room, bound to win a prize They've been going at it all night long I'm trying to get some sleep But these motel walls are cheap Lincoln Duncan is my name and here's my song

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy, To be calm when you've found something going on. But take your time, think a lot, Why, think of everything you've got. For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.
"I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news, But she just smiled and turned away. I went down to the sacred store Where Id heard the music years before, But the man there said the music wouldnt play.
And in the streets: the children screamed, The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed. But not a word was spoken; The church bells all were broken. And the three men I admire most: The father, son, and the holy ghost, They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died."
"There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ships smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown, the dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb."
Wow, it sounds even more bleak reading it
To Express Joy -
"Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl i loved And drowned her deep inside of me
You Soft and only You Lost and lonely You Just like heaven"
Can't believe that girl married me to this day
Just plain wonder at the world -
"And its something quite peculiar, Something thats shimmering and white. Leads you here despite your destination, Under the milky way tonight (chorus) Under the milky way tonight"
Makes me think of the painting "Starry Night" by Van Gogh, and standing on that hill at night in Provence
In a previous career, I used to work for a billionaire. Some of my colleagues tried to "work" this relationship to their advantage (everything from doing personal favors to attending social events together to taking personal loans from the guy). Once he got you on that track, you were his indentured servant. So, I like this line from Kyle Davis:
"I don't want to be in service to the king, you only get to take one ride".
I also like another one from Lindsey Buckingham - presumably sung to his former "special lady", Stevie Nicks (whom he evidently doesn't like very much, anymore):
No joke, no joke, you get sick from that unspoken. Sure don't feel like love. No joke, no joke, some chicken and a corn muffin -- yeah, well, that feels more like love.
Paul Simon "Sure Don't Feel Like Love," from "Surprise," (2006).
If I gave you everything that I owned And asked for nothing in return Would you do the same for me as I would for you Or take me for a ride And strip me of everything, including my pride But spirit is something that no one destroys

Grandpa pissed his pants again, he don't give a damn, Brother Billy's got both guns drawn, ain't been right since Viet Nam. "Play It All Night Long", Warren Zevon
Her lips were waiting, her eyes were sad, The dreams of a lifetime, the year's gone bad.
"Seventy-six trombones led the big parade, with one-hundred and ten cornets right behind....." Come' on guys, we all love rock and roll, but let's please give some credit to Robert Preston and Shirley Jones. They were simply wonderful together !!
