If you really want to bump it up as far as Digital sound quality, use the Oppo as a DAC and purchase a stand alone streamer from Aurender (X100L) This connects directly to the Oppo 205 using the USB audio connection input, once this is running you can use the awesome Conductor app!!

I have a new Oppo 205 that I've never used but I'm not aware of it having a streaming capability. Does the Oppo 205 specifications or documentation list that capability anywhere? If so, could you please tell me where?

Anything you could do to elaborate on that capability would be appreciated.

You are asking my question.

I discovered that JRiver on my laptop recognized my Oppo 105 as a DLNA renderer on the way to an external DAC.  Using it that way elevated my SQ as files from my NAS no longer had to pass through the computer.  I have since substituted a much better renderer/bridge, with USB all the way to the DAC, but the Oppo was pretty good.

Let me say up front that I don't use Roon so my answer is not 100% relevant to you but I'll share what I know about streaming wirelessly to my 205.

After seeing a thread on here titled "Oppo 205 + Tidal/Roon Via Ethernet Now - Should I add a MQA decoder? - need your wisdom" and following a couple of the links from thread contributors, I discovered how to stream wirelessly to my Oppo 205 to get MQA unfold on Tidal. I loaded the mconnect app onto my iphone and use it to select Tidal (it supports Qobuz as well) and then select the Oppo under the 'Play to' option. 

I can use either the dac in the Oppo or use the digital out from the Oppo to go into a psaudio dac. The mconnect app seems to allow for getting files from cloud sources or local servers also but I can't comment on this as I've not tried to use these options. 

This is a relatively recent development for me so I haven't yet done head to head comparisons between the wireless streaming and my original streaming method, laptop to spdif optical to the psaudio dac. I don't know if this helps you at all but my main point is to be aware of the mconnect app and see if this is a path that might work for you. Best of luck!
