VTL 7.5 S3 vs Jeff Rowland Corus with PSU

Currently  own the Jeff Rowland Corus with larger PSU power supply and am considering a VTL 7.5 S3 preamp. Anyone hear both and able to comment if this would be an upgrade or side step. Speakers are Wilson Sasha DAW with Krell FPB 300c.

I don’t dislike the Rowland preamp but it seems VTL is always pairing up with VTL so just wondering if the VTL 7.5 S3 would be considered an upgrade to the Jeff Rowland Corus. Considering the system.

I have a VTL 6.5 paired with D'Agastino momentum stereo amp with Wilson Vyette's, and could not be happier. The VTL replaced a Veloce battery powered tube pre, and a older VAC phi beta. Its very neutral, and accurate. I also hear that some like the ARC ref 10 with Wilson speakers...
I demo'd the Wilson's while it was running with a VTL 7.5 v3, it provided a bit more 'air' than my 6.5...but not in my budget. Heard at Audio Elements in Pasadena...
Thanks,  good to hear the VTL is a good match. Heard 6.5 gives you 90% of the 7.5s3 for a lot less money
Nothing against VTL sound, but i can tell you first hand their service is the worst I've experienced ....ever.   Horrible.
do you think I will lose some of the quality lower midrange  and bass definition if I switch from The Rowland preamp to the VTL 7.5?
@carey1110 i recently upgraded to the 7.5 III from an ARC REF40. The former is far more linear, open, uncoloured and more solid state like than the ARC. The REF40 sounds “nicer” but that means it imparts a lovely tinge of space and air to everything, making the recording sound realer than real. Thus I assume that if you are already accustomed to a solid state sound with your Rowland then you should find the VTL a good fit and not give anything up in terms of transparency and bass control. In my instance I found the VTL provided deeper bass, but less pronounced than the ARC.

By the way if you buy from a VTL dealer then you should have no issues with service. I have owned their gear for over ten years and have lots of positive service experiences (all occasioned by decisions I made or problems I caused, these amps are very reliable). Buying used outside the dealer network may be another matter however ...
Folkfreak is 100% correct:

I have owned VTL product for 19 years and the statement above is correct. I live a few hundred from them and when devices are service/upgraded, I deliver my device, always helpful and friendly. Luke, have given me a tour of there manufacturing facility, pretty cool. I've owned my VTL 450MKII amps for over 10 years and they have had on issues other then tube & fuse replacement.
I ALREADY have a JRDG Corus, but how much are Rowland dealers charging for the new Power Storage Unit that's supposed to be such a significant improvement? The only price I could find was 29,000 Euros for both the preamp AND the PSU together as a package.
Please advise! Thank you.
I believe the PSU sells for 7-8k separate but not sure exactly. I bought mine together
i spent an enjoyable few hours yesterday with VTL pre and amp running Vandersteens ( 7 mk2) with a Brinkmann Etna front end...awesome sound and I have heard similar with top flight ARC.

hopefully at the level you are at, local dealer can enable at home in your system demo...

have fun, enjoy the music...
I have the Corus and new PSU as well.  I think it is superlative, but FWIW I don't think bass definition is its strongest suit.  I would be very curious about the 7.5 mkIII as it was my other top choice before going with Rowland.  Pairing it with my 625 S2 was a natural choice but I am still wanting to hear the VTL.
I will be auditioning the 7.5 s3 in my system in the future and comparing to the Rowland. I may be wrong but  my thoughts are that the bass will be better with the Rowland than the Tube preamp. I’ll keep you posted when I hear it.
Mildly OT:  does anyone know what brand 12AU7s VTL uses in the 6.5 II preamp?  Much thanks.
