Von Schweikert speakers

I have experience with the VR33/VR35 but one of the others. Did not like them, stopped listening to the system because I didn’t like them, sold them a year later. That’s the last time I bought speakers without listening to them. Went by the word of Greg Weaver from TAS who gushed over them.

I have owned db99se speakers since 2005 with no desire to replace. Super build and component quality. I actually spoke with Albert a couple of times. He was gracious and helpful. I would only replace my speakers with the same brand. Since I bought my vain Schweikerts, they have changed their product line considerably and offer stratospheric pricing

I had the original VR4 (Silver edition) and later the Gen III HSE. They are very good speakers. From memory it seemed the Gen III was much tougher to drive than the VR4. You could do far worse, that's for sure.

I have the VR4 Gen III HSE and love them. Bought new 2003. Was thinking about selling but started to do critical listening and may keep them even though older tech. They just have such a great sound. Would have to spend way more now to beat. 

I have a beautiful part of UniField 3 Mk2 loudspeakers, and they amaze me every time I play music through them.  They are basically a one-way with a ribbon tweeter and a small but very powerful woofer, in two cabinets.  Beautiful, and beautiful sounding.  The speakers in my main system are Vandersteen 5A.  Second/third system are JBL L100 Classic. I love each system, and wish I could justify a fourth, at times.  

I had DB-100’s and they were great through my SET amp phase, the others I have heard are uneventful to me.

I have owned VR 4.5 Silver since new. I have always enjoyed them, driven by good equipment.  I,too, would caution against buying speakers w/o audition, in your own space, If possible...of all equipment, they are most room dependent...my speakers seem coherent from low to high excellent soundstage, but haven’t auditioned newer speakers inavery long time

I have some experience with von schweikert speakers because he was a major player in the design and development of the woofer and passive radiator design in my ess speakers. I have also heard one of his statement speakers in chicago years back and came away with mixed feelings about them, but i can tell you that his early designs were magic.

I have owned Von Schweikert speakers for  a decade starting with VR 4SR, then VR5 Anniversary and now VR 55Aktives. I have auditioned many speakers including Wilson, Magico, Tidal, etc and to me Von Schweikert speakers have always sounded more natural. I am an amateur pianist. In my room I compared the VSA speakers to a grand piano in the same room and VSA sounded closest to the real instrument.
In addition, due to their design there is a very large sweet spot (you even get stereo far off to the side wall), and on many models bass is adjustable which helps create workable placement .in terms of room size and distance from front wall. The company has always been highly responsive and the product 100% reliable. They are transparent and easily reveal enhancements in equipment. I have had many audiophiles in my home who own other brands and all have been surprised and pleased with the VSA sound. Hope this helps.

I haven’t heard VS speakers in years, but they’ve always impressed me with their neutral and natural sound along with excellent imaging/soundstage that I put on par with some of my faves including Joseph Audio, Vandersteen, ProAc, Nola, and Usher.  What sets VS apart for me is their use of a rear-firing tweeter that always intrigued me as instruments in real life project sound in all directions and so a rear driver makes some sense.  I’d have to hear their latest speakers to see how their sound has evolved, but IMO they’re well worth auditioning. 

Coming from Spatials you might want to give Nolas a listen as well if you can find them as they also employ a dipole design. 

Hello I have the mk3 endevor they are mesmerizing ! Sound stage is very good . It takes time to set up,but it’s worth the squeeze!  We made diagram of our room and  measured speaker and seating from walls . We hear sounds off too the way left and right way back in the room like right next to you. I worked with lief directly on the phone till they delivered the speakers and be on set up. He was eager to help me with the all the questions I asked!
