van den Hul Colibri - Recondition or leave it alone - how to reach vdH

Hello friends

I am in a familar predicament.  My vdH Colibri, which I bought used 9 years ago, has about between estimated 600 to 800 hours and seems to be fading a bit in sound quality.  It is very dirty when viewed under magnification, the coils caked with debris (? vinyl dust ) I have tried a little to brush off the debris with no success.  The cartridge still produces decent sound, but not sublime as it did a few years ago.  It is on a Well Tempered Reference Table w the Reference Arm.  I would like to have it reconditioned by the master (AJ vdH).  What is the method for this.. I have sent a message on the vdH web site but no reply.  I heard that VPI is now a distributor and perhaps through them ?   I am reluctant to spend the $$$ on a new cart, they have become prohibitively expensive.

Contact John McGuirk at info@myaudioshield.com. He’s the distributor for van den Hul. Van den Hul customer service has greatly improved since the Bluebird days.

You should send it back to van den hul - he can also tweak the cartridge for your specific tonearm if required. He can also advise on stylus wear and provide set up advice from any unusual wear he sees.

I would reach out to VPI, they are the US dealer.  They'll send it on to Van Den Hul.  I'm not sure you'll be able to get to VDH directly.
