USBe Perfect

Ozzy reviewed it: here. I bought one based on his observations. Glad I did.

This USBe Perfect merits more exposure. Adding this tweak has been a really nice addition. As Ozzy mentioned - more solidity and transparency.

Plenty of other good reviews:  here and here and here.

I understand the use of one of these if you use a computer as a source, but what if you have a nice unit like an Auralic Aeries G1? Will putting one of these after the G1 improve anything? Please don't say try it and find out, because Underwood Hifi has a no return policy.

Why not call Walter and ask firsthand versus waiting to see if someone here has the answer.

A streamer/server that has high quality usb renderer should not benefit from daisy chaining usb decrapifier devices. Problem is too many don't, my take is for the money many spend on servers/streamers quality usb renderers should be built in. Simply taking usb off motherboard is not quality usb rendering.

@steakster Windows platform based servers are very well regarded by some, atx/windows motherboards used in most state of art diy servers.

I've heard good things about the Fidelizer, pretty trick way to optimize general service computer. Obviously, you still benefited from external usb rendering, which virtually all servers will benefit from. Network setting preferable to streaming likely due to certain unneeded process being disabled with that setting, those unneeded processes probably being usb related. USBe not a streamer, so pc/Fidelizer still actual server/streamer, you're just transferring more usb rendering to USBe.

steakster, Thanks for the update.

2 questions for you ’all.

1. Has anyone tried the USBe Perfect in both directions? Does the direction really matter? To me it doesn't seem to.

2. Has anyone tried 2 of them, one on each usb cable end? I just purchased another to try that way.

According to Walter it doesn’t matter which direction is used. Confusing though since there are arrows and directions pointing in and out...

Would this benefit a DAC such as a Holo Audio May KTE that already has excellent USB implementation and Galvanic USB isolation when streaming from a PC?

Well, I just got my second USBe Perfect. Now I have one on each end of my usb cable from my Hard Drive to my Lumin.

First listen, and best I can describe is there is an additional benefit.

So, if the first one at the hard drive was at about 75% the second one at the Lumin added about another 25%.

Sorry, I misspoke. It was not a 25% jump in overall performance. I was trying to compare the difference between using just one and then adding a second. The second one was perhaps 1/4 of the performance improvement compared to just using one. It is probably a total of 5-10% in overall performance gains. Which is still significant.

Next, I'm going to try them back-to-back rather than at both ends.

I have not been able to get the back-to-back USBe Perfects to work at the hard drive. I was able to get the back-to-back to work at the Lumin end, however. Which seems strange...

To me, (at this point) I believe it sounds better with the USBe Perfect used at both ends of the cable.

BTW, adding a Synergistic tuning (purple) dot on the usb cable at the hard drive is also an improvement.

What I have noticed with using 2 of the USBe Perfects and one SR purple dot that the soundstage widened and deepened even more. I couldn't believe it could get any better. There seems to be way more distance between instruments and singers.

Yesterday, I listened to Bruce Springsteen- Dancing in the dark and for the first time I could make out all of the lyrics!

steakster,

Are you connecting one into the other or one on each end?
