PS Audio Perfect Wave Dac

Hi. I have the PSAPWD. Currently I’m only using it from my desktop MAC to the dac via USB.

Is it possible to also connect a cd transport to the dac via toslink? I’ve read that the Audiolab 6000CDT is a worthy transport.

So my actual question is, is it possible to have the dac use both the toslink and USB as input options to choose from and then of course playback?

Sorry, I’m an old dinosaur. Thank you for your replies.

If the DAC in question is the Perfectwave Direct Stream DAC, the answer is yes.  Both inputs are available on the back of the DAC and selectable from the remote or the touchscreen.

If it is the DirectStream it has Toslink, coax SPDIF, AES-EBU, USB-A and 2 i2s for 6 inputs total. I use them all.

Just say no to a computer source

On my DS Sr. I used to have my Aurender (N100H) music server connected via USB. When I went to connect another device by coax it would not lock with the DAC because the DAC was still locked to the USB. The USB does not disconnect automatically and you can’t have two devices locked at the same time so I had to physically unplug the USB.

Maybe if you turn your computer off it will unlock and then the coax should lock when you select it as the input.

I now run my Aurender through a Matrix DDC which gives me i2s for connecting to the DAC.

I'm running Tosklink from the TV and USB from the music server and just switch them back forth from the remote.

So yes not an issue.

Your Perfectwave DAC should have an optical input port on the back. Mine does anyway.

You can connect one or all four inputs (on the DAC ) at the same time. For example, you could connect the USB input to your computer and the toslink input to your transport. Then you choose which ONE to listen to from the front panel touch screen (or the remote) that selects the input.

bsme85, thank you very much! Now I’m set, and it’ll be nice to listen to cd’s occasionally. Thank you all!
