Anything to do with high-end audio is a first-world problem. Thank you for the suggestions.
Upside-Down IEC Adaptor?
Just as bread always falls butter-side down, It seems that my power cords always end up with the IEC the wrong way and you have to go through all sorts of BS to get it routed with minimum tension on the cord. I haven't seen one, but I think it would be a good idea if there were a high-quality IEC adaptor that just reversed the plug - turned it upside-down. Is there anything like this? I think it would be helpful to a lot of people. I know audiophiles hate adaptors, but I think it's better than having your cables and connections so stressed. Yes, I know it's better to use proper routing, but many of us have tight spaces, even for relatively flexible cords. Be well.

Have you tried connecting the female IEC connector onto the male inlet connector on the equipment first and then plug the male plug into the wall outlet twisting the cord one way or the other in the least twisted direction. If the cord is too stiff or too stiff and short just pull the duplex wall outlet and rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall it. (Of course make sure the power is turn off at the outlet first.) Jim |
You can re-terminate the cable... https://www.newegg.com/p/0Y3-0050-00037#http:// There are many different adapters that re-orient the cable up, down, left, or right. I've never seen one that reverses it, but the length of the adapter would likely make it want to disconnect itself. I've seen very short IEC320 extension cables that it seems would solve the problem. I'd re-terminate it or remove and invert the chassis mount receptacle in the device (or live with it). |
