I am going to have the music "Entry of the Gods into Valhalla" from Wagner's opera "The Valkyries"...and when my remains are cremated, the funeral pyre music from "Twilight of the Gods". |
Don't know about someone else's, but at my funeral they'll be playing: "Tango Til They're Sore" by Tom Waits off Holly Cole's "Temptations" and "Here It Is" off Leonard Cohen's "Ten New Songs" - both great CDs musically and sonically. |
I've always thought Talking Heads' "Once In A Lifetime" was good funeral music - "This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful wife! Man, how did I get here?" I could only do it if my wife was already gone, since she is a beautiful person, but I just love those lyrics. I want people laughing a little, crying a little, singing a little. -Kirk |

Warren Zevon, "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead". |
I'm trying to get my son to learn to play "Elegy" an instrumental track from Jethro Tull's Stormwatch LP. And "Be thou my vision" recorded by Amy Shreve. Not as amusing as some of the other posts but this is something I've already given a lot of thought. |

C'mon guys, you left out the Stephen King of rock! Alice Cooper has to be front and center. What about "Halo of Flies" off the Killer album? "I Love the Dead" is a must. Personally, I have to have "Cold Ethyl" from Welcome to my Nightmare. May as well have some female company hehehehe |
For all you deadheads...
"He's Gone" "Black Peter" "He was a Friend" "Death Don't" |
"Your's is no disgrace" Yes "Weather Report Suite" Grateful Dead "Hidden Treasure" Traffic

Roy Rodgers "Happy Trails"
Jim Carroll's "These are people who died" ("They're all my friends, and they died")
Peggy Lee's "Is that all there is?"
Talking Heads "Heaven" (is a place where nothing really happens) |
"Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" - Shirelles |

Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth
"When they reminisce over you for real" |
I like the idea of "Happy Trials" but I want the Van Halen version. How about Motley Crue - Home Sweet Home or Ozzy - The Road to Nowhere. I like my dose of metal and have people have to sit and listen to it that don't like it would be a good send off!!!! |
"I've got to get out of this place, if it's the last thing I ever do..." |
"Its my life, and I'll do what I want." |
"I won't get to get what I'm after Till the day I die" |
No music, I wish instead to be buried with my stereo system.
I can just imagine, old friends and relatives at grave side watching the casket being lowered between the Soundlab Ultimates and the Aesthetix, then turn and say:
"Man, that's really living." |
Albert, how many plots would you have to buy? Or would you just go for your own wing in the cemetary? I'm not sure they could custom build a coffin big enough for all your toys. You better just enjoy it here because I think the sound system in heaven will be a lot better! |
Albert- Running 110v to the gravesight with an RV-type hook-up on the side of the casket would add a nice touch of realism. Check your local codes......
Jim |
Who said "you can't take it with you"? |
I'd have "stairway to heaven" into "goodbye cruel world" |
Albert - intend to have the entire package cryoed and left submerged until the music, and you, can be played once again? :-) |
Love Vigilantes by New Order or the Indiana Jones theme if I died.
Every Time You Go Away by Paul Young if someone dear to me departed. |
Well, depending on the way I go, Rock and Roll Suicide - No Just kidding I choose the doors song - The END. |
