To Banana or to BFA?

Getting some new cables and wondering if the BFA are a measurable difference?

Been using bananas only.

Thank you

Different brands use different designs for BFA plugs. I find that some are good and many are not. I do think the BFA design tends to start out too snug and get more loose the more it gets used. Once it is loose it can't be brought back to tight.

So my personal choice is to stick with bananas most of the time. Even then, some designs are better than others.

Not a fan of either.   My Cyrus amp uses BFA and I had one pull out.  I powered up the other night and had no right channel.  I pulled the cover off and checked the fuses no board, they were fine.

Fortunately after a few minutes of being unplugged the amplifier produced sound again.   It got me thinking about " locking BFA"  like the Cardas posts.

I use BFAs and like them.  Contrary to 996, it’s most bananas that cannot be rescued from fatigue of their spring elements.  With BFAs, if they begin to collapse you can easily restore them with a well chosen tool.  Of course the quality matters…Nordost uses them, and they use the best.

Consider no plugs at all. Bare wire to binding posts. Very secure, fewer connections to worry about. Cheap.

To answer your question, no, there won't be a measurable nor audible difference.

Thank you all

As much as i like the idea of BFA i feel it may be a personal annoyance when moving things around.

May end up with bananas after all hahaha
