Most manufacturers are quite open and transparent regarding the technicalities behind their products … I have asked a very simple question which you have chosen to evade , why is that ?
I might start a new post with the title Most Tedious Thread--Let's Vote. If I do, I'll put this one near the top. Good grief. Try the purple fuses. Then try them in each direction. Do you like what you hear? It's a simple if/then and yes/no. As for me, I tried them in my superb Pass XA60.5s. They are now superber. (Yes, I know. And I know.)

So… You have absolutely no idea why then ? Just think about it for a moment … Current enters a fuse through one conductive end cap which is connected to a section of fusible material which connects to the secondary conductive end cap , simple. Are your two end caps composed of disparate material ? How has your fusible material been constructed /treated to conduct in a more efficient way in one orientation as aposed to the other ? |
@jerryg123 yes, all fuses exhibit directionality when you listen. It’s the last part, when you listen, that some people have a problem with. I don’t have time for people who won’t listen to something, but will argue about that same something for months and even years online. Especially in light of the fact, we have a strong dealer network, with an airtight 30-day no-risk moneyback guarantee. Anyone who would rather argue that fuses don’t make a difference, or are not directional and can’t be bothered to listen; I can’t be bothered to respond to respond to that. |
The answer is clearly contained in my quote you cited. No further explanation necessary. |
I posted recently saying I was awaiting two more purple fuses, and then went on to describe what I was hearing with the one that I had. I got a notification it had been deleted by a moderator.

I can’t see how how my post met any of these criteria for being removed??? There was absolutely nothing in my post that violated the last three. As for the the first one “It looks like spam”, my post was completely on topic and relevant to the thread. It was certainly not trying to promote or sell male enhancement products, or anything else😉 |
Ted's been doing this more than 30 years. Doing it so uncommonly well one of his very first products the AC Master Coupler is still around and selling for good money in the used market even after 30 years. He's been so prodigiously productive with new ideas and products that one of his customers few complaints is they want to upgrade to the new stuff so often. Now he posts a few times, and this to you means he is hard up for ideas- and you are gonna deny him your invaluable expertise. This may be the end. How will he ever recover? Oh well Ted it was fun while it lasted, eh?

Added a third Purple to my system, this time in my PS Audio DirectStream DAC replacing an Orange. My system is sounding better than ever, however I also violated the one change at a time rule and added 3M RFI absorber material in strategic places at the same time. I'm guessing that much of the improvement is from the fuse, but that's just a guess. Since you have to open the DAC to get to the fuse (and it's a PITA), I opted to do both mods at the same time.
Happy camper, though only 24+ hours in... |
I was pointing to RCA connectors as another example of a ubiquitous, but not ideal, solution. There are better connectors out there, but why would a manufacturer adopt them when nobody else has? Not necessarily saying they are detrimental to the sound (although they probably are, to various degrees, depending on quality etc.)
Anybody else remember Mark Levinson’s CAMAC connectors? |
Here’s the thing about fuses, I don’t like them in general. They’re designed to break, on purpose, to protect us and our property from catastrophic events. Like RCA connectors, they are not an ideal solution. Fuses, in their standard form, are detrimental to good sound. I’m sure there are better solutions out there.
However, again like RCA connectors, they are a standard that is almost universal in home audio equipment. If we want that protection from catastrophic events (which I sure do), we are pretty much stuck with them. Given that, I am grateful there are entrepreneurs out there who are willing to put their money and reputation on the line to develop and provide less detrimental (or even beneficial) fuses for home audio. |
“....but no one mention putting one in their power conditioner. I have a Transparent PI8 that all of my other components (except power amps) plug into first. Logically, wouldn’t this be the place to start since it where ALL AC enters my system.” Makes sense, if my power conditioner had a fuse, that’s where I’d start. All the components plugged into it should benefit. |
+1 @tommylion, If you're still not sure you could also start at your amplifier/receiver/integrated amplifier at the main power with only one first, the one that’s in, or very near, the power cord inlet. |
In terms of application, what component(s) get the purple fuse? I read above DAC/CD/Streamer....but no one mention putting one in their power conditioner. I have a Transparent PI8 that all of my other components (except power amps) plug into first. Logically, wouldn't this be the place to start since it where ALL AC enters my system. I would obviously also use them in amps, which are plugged into dedicated/ conditioned wall outlet. Do y'all think using one in the PI 8 would have any effect? |
The SR purple in my CD transport now has close to 100 hours on it. As you know, I am thoroughly convinced that fuses can and do make a difference in the sound. Even so, I am still rather blown away by what changing one small fuse has done, and that is replacing the already excellent QSA light blue. Look forward to getting two more purples for my DAC and amp. |
I replaced the Acme sauced fuses with the orange fuses. I didn't care for the orange fuses. So I Sent them back for a refund. That was a couple of years back. Now 35 days ago I bought 3 SR purple fuses for my gear. WOW these fuses are the best fuses I have used. A easy going burn in. They just kept getting better everyday. I listen to my system everyday for 4 to 8 hours. |

Y’all wanna good laugh ... Purple arrived today, 30 minutes ago .... ROLMFAO! My calculations were wrong. Small not no Large you idiot. Guess I’ve been outta this fuse game for some time. So I start the removal process, knowing very well what’s already located in the DAC. Alright, amp & or transport ... Nope, no dice + more lmao. Well, whatcha gonna do. Both hoods are popped off Pre & Amp until ... I purchase now two Purples. I’ll get with The Cable Company later ... ain’t no big deal, life is good

My three SR Purple fuses are fully broken in at this point, and sounding mighty fine. I know that one of my early comments that I could "see" facial expressions on well-recorded vocalists was scoffed at, but it is true, especially with the lights out. Those who know, know. Other’s not so much. *lol* |
