Bassist Leland Sklar---one of the most recorded in history---started posting daily YouTube videos he recorded in his Pasadena home after the pandemic closed down the music industry (both recordings and live shows). In each video he discusses a particular recording he played on, recounting it's making, on some videos playing bass along with the recording. A great musician, with a wealth of stories to tell. Fascinating stuff!
I bought the debut Section album when it came out in the 70's, but didn't care for it. As with many back-up bands, I prefer their playing in that capacity, rather than the Rock/Jazz Fusion music of their own albums. I feel the same about Jerry Douglas, whose work as a backing musician (he's the world's premier dobro player) I love, but whose albums as a front man (in which he and his band play Bluegrass/Jazz Fusion) I don't. I'm about to see him live in the former capacity, he and his band touring with John Hiatt.
Sklar also finally had the time to put together his "finger" book, a collection of the pictures he snapped over the years of other artists flipping him off (at his request ;-) . It's available on his website I believe, and perhaps Amazon and/or bookstores (I'm not interested, so haven;t investigated.).
