Any particular manufacture? You have to figure, where EVERYBODY is buying their materials from.
Other than "I have a new idea", or "made with swiss hands", not a lot of difference. Made at high altitude? Made close to tulip nurseries, or cannabis fields.
Postage, import, export taxes, labor and material cost. Is there a material they, have, you can't get anywhere else, or at a cost no one can match?
Thoren (use to be a Swedish based company), I have a lot of their stuff, German, Austrian, Belgian, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian, parts in them though. Just sayin' :-). Got to buy them somewhere..
Had Swiss Symo cables for my Apogee Duetta Signature speakers. They used Litz construction so very labor intensive with a price tag to match. According to Apogee, these were the best cables available. Never found reason to question them.
I remember a dealer demo with ProAc Response 2 speakers, a McCormack CD player and amp and Symo cables. I have never since heard something even nearly as holographic. It was as if the musicians were in the room in three dimensions, full size. I wish that I could recreate that. I don't know how much of that was down to the cables.
vtag my audition has been pushed back into December on the Dealer/retailer end. I requested the Reference interconnects (RCA and XLR) plus speaker cables. I will post here once the 1st demo is accomplished. Happy Listening!
What's wrong with you guys? A speaker cable is about a conductor (most likely OFC copper) with a given length and diameter (Cross section, or AWG). This may have some endings: banana plugs, spades... WTF do you care where this cable is coming from? Swiss, China, Germany, USA, Mexico or Israel?
Speaking of cheese ..., Kim Jung Un, was schooled in Switzerland where he developed a love for Swiss Cheese. More recently (a couple of years ago) since he had an ongoing practice of sending for pounds of the very best regularly (and being Asian and lactose intolerant) he was sent away, for a couple of months to unload his system of backed-up dairy. This is presented for trivia value.
I used to have Transparent Ultra balanced between Astin Trew dac and Electrocompaniet ECI5 amp,now with the rca evolution digital seems more relaxed and hearing deeper into recordings.
@vtag and @jafant -- any update on SwissCables? I have a friend who speaks very highly of these cables and wants me to try out their Reference power cord. Just wondering if you had a chance to evaluate the PC in your systems?
In my system they are incredible. I have Reference interconnects, reference speaker cables and the Diamond power cord. In my 50 years in this awesome but spendy hobby, I have had many many different cables from cheap to $8400 power cords and the swisscables have had much more of a positive game changing effect on my system than any I've ever owned. I will never again buy any other than swisscables. Next move will be to save for their Diamond speaker cables!!
I was able to get the SwissCables Reference power cord and the Reference speaker cables in my system. All I can say is that they totally transformed my system. It really is like upgrading to a much more expensive component. They easily outperform, by a long mile, my previous best cables from Audio Envy. But to be honest, they are more than 4x the price of Audio Envy so it is to be expected. No surprises there. I will say this -- for the price, Audio Envy makes really good stuff. The SwissCables are in a totally different league though.
I have Swiss cables on all my systems. The Reference, Evolution and Diamond speaker cables. They are worth it. Like the previous post - These made the biggest difference (positive) than any other cable. They are delicate though so taking them off/on frequently can't be recommended.
Did you graduate from Reference to Evolution, then, Diamond level ? On my 1st audition, I heard Reference interconnects and Evolution speaker cables. Other gear Audio Hungary integrated amp, Innous server/streamer and QLN loudspeakers.
I am located in Europe, and purchased the XLRs used from a dealer in The Netherlands. I am considering the possibility of adding a pair of LS Single Wire Reference speaker cables, as it would be interesting to see whether or not there is any strong synergy.
I currently use Audience AU24e cables, which have been in my system for many years now. and, to be fair, still sound very good to my ears. But as I have upgraded my amplifier recently, I am tempted to do some further, associated upgrading.
