Could the squeak be attributed to the belt? I would go ahead and talc the belt or replace, never hurts to have a new one on hand anyway and oil the motor.
Squeaky turntable
I bought a Rega Planar P3 turntable new about two years ago. I'm embarrassed to admit I inadvertently left the turntable continuously running for what must have been weeks without realizing it.
It still works well without any noticeable sonic flaws. However, there is a terrible squeak when I start it or if I touch it while spinning. There is no perceivable wow or flutter as you might expect, And the sound it produces is still wonderful (with a $600 Grado Sonata cartridge.)
Does anyone know how I might get rid of the squeak, short of bringing it in for repair?
