Speaker Stand Help

I am looking at getting a set of stands for my CSS 1TDX speakers and have a couple options in mind.

Target MR Series

Skylan 2 Post

I have kinda ruled out Pangea as they are a bit lower quality than the Target stands but might still be an option. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

@lak I went through Target direct as they are having the once a year B stock sale. But once I looked around it only saved me an extra $100 so not really worth it when they are on sale new online.

The Target MR is a great choice, good job. Where did you end up purchasing them from?

@lanx0003 I did show them off in two posts and people made fun of it. Which is fine, it's better if I like them and others don't than the other way

I ended up with the Target MR. They are at the top with Sound Anchors being even a bit better. Once filled with tank gravel they will weight around 60 pounds each.

@grislybutter To give an idea of how obsessed I am with finding the right stands, I had them custom made and dragged it across from Europe.

Wow, why don't you show it off here?  Picture pls.

btw Sonner speakers are beautiful.

I think Dynaudio should’ve consulted with Sonner before they designed their Contour line.  Yeesh.

I think there are two kinds of decent looking speaker design:

  • the subtle approach, mainly a tripod when it’s light and functional
  • the furniture approach, when the design is bold, and in itself is a pretty piece of furniture but nevertheless functional and not just a piece of art.

These columns may be function, but not pleasant to look at.

+1 Monoprice Monolith 4 post, best bang for your buck. Fill them with sand to maximize its performance.  Tried and very happy with them.

Too ugly, consider Dynaudio Stand 20

@temmple I just saw several different models of target speaker stands on sale at Music Direct.

Then buy a pair of speakers with matching stands, Sonus faber, Sonner, you get what you get.

$70.00 stands for the speakers in question is reasonable. The mono price site has other stands also. Check out Amazon sure they have some inexpensive options for your boxes.

Mono price make great speaker stands in various height and finishes. I have bought these for all 4 of my kids and they love them.

I personally always buy monitors with the one stands. Sonner right now.

I think Pangea is the sweet spot but so far leaning towards the Target because of the slightly higher build quality.

These Monoprice stands seem very sturdy and are sand fillable, and at only $55 each they seem like a very good value.  I suppose you could throw a lot more $$$ at Target stands but not sure how much better they’ll be, especially if you’re planning on filling your stands with sand, lead shot, etc.  Best of luck.

Similar to the Pangeas, I've been happy with my Bowers & Wilkins 24" stands.

Both stands filled with about 10 lbs of aquarium gravel.

Rock solid.

Timbernation makes nice quality fairly priced stuff.  All natural wood if you want that.

I’ve owned both Skylan and Target 4-post. Both good, but I personally prefer target. I am a big fan of standmount speakers and IMO, stands are a critical part of the sound. I would definitely go for a 4-post stand. I had 2-post Skylans and they drained the bass out of the speakers. I fill mine with cat litter, which is much easier to work with than sand. Also, the way you affix the speakers to the stand makes a big difference in sound. Sound Anchors are great, but really expensive. The Pangea 4-posts look good and will probably work fine filled with cat litter or sand. In your position, I’d order them and see you they look in real life. You can always send them back if they look crappy

Been looking at both 4 post from Pangea and a Target. The steel plate thickness for the top plate on the Target is what they use for the base in the Pangea so really paying for thicker steel it sounds like. Probably less likely to ring as well.

I had the Skylan SP-20 2 post stands and the Target HR-60 2 post stands. I am now using the Pangea 4 post stands. You can always fill the stands with shot if you want them heavier.

The Target does weigh a fair amount more than the same stand from Pangea so thicker steel.

What models did you try? 4 post?

The Pangea seems to be a great value.

$250 vs $600 and that’s getting a deal on the target.

I have Target and Pangea steel stands and have owned Skylan. Save yourself some cash and go with the Pangea. IMO, they are as good as the others that you are lookin' at!
