you do really need to get an extra volume control for SFL Line 3. In fact any preamp needs an external volume control. That's how they're designed pretty much...

if your going to run another volume control system why not eliminate the line 3 all together your just adding more to the chain that's not necessary. if its to get the switching ability of the preamp then buy a quality switch box. your just adding noise to the system and burning tubes for no reason. if you want the tube sound then buy a tube buffer stage. 

I got a response from Glen at PartsConnexion. Set the volume at 83.5.
