Shunyata Research Venom X EF Power Cable - Have you heard them?

I’ve ordered a Shunyata Research Venom X EF power cable to use on my Supernait 3 Integrated Amplifier. Does anyone have any experience with the new Blue flexible cable? What are you using yours on and what can I expect?

Your feedback is appreciated ‐

I am looking forward in reading more about Shunyata power cord(s) in your system.

Happy Listening!

Shunyata makes good power cables, but you pay. You can buy a three pack of Venum at a greatly reduced price. Personally, I would probably A/B them against GR-Research cables.

I went crazy and picked up the Everest Power Conditioner and used a Sigma for the conditioner and a Sigma NR for the integrated. This combination represents the single greatest improvement in my system.

vonhelmholtz - Thanks for the feedback and you have a very nice system including your choice in conditioning and cables.

I've received the X EF and it's currently burning in. The cable sounds quick and clear out if the box with good midrange.

I currently have them (Venom) on my subs and they seem to be a great value in power cables. I’m a bit tapped out $..so will probably add Venom NR to two more components as funds free up.

It amazes me as to what clean power does for a system.

Where do you guys live?

City, rural, apartment or house?

Just wondering why these investments in power conditioning give such great results.

Just wondering why these investments in power conditioning give such great results.

Don't you think that most modern homes have quite a few devices using electricity compared to forty years ago?  Also, I don't use a dedicated circuit.  My power amplifiers are all on the same 15 anp 115/120 volt circuit and the conditioner allows for each amp to pull 30amps for short peaks.

I purchased with an ability to return the conditioner and power cables, which I would have done with a lesser result.

@nutty I don’t think you have to burn in shunyata cables any more. At least that’s what they told me on my power cables.

Baylinor, I really don't think it is a matter of the type of dwelling, but more Who built and wired it. Also what city do you live in? I am in Denver and we enjoy pretty clean Power for the most part. Though I have a rather well-made power conditioner, I have never found any spurious signals on my lines. All I have to do is record something and then listen through the headphones at full volume, to the dead spots, especially at the start and end of the recording. If it sounds like it came from Youtube it's got noise. Also, I am a HAM operator and I get no interference from my equipment or anyone else. One thing to make sure of is knowing you have a proper ground and that you don't have ground loops. If you are really troubled try running a quality ground strap out the nearest window or wall to a well-planted ground rod OUTSIDE!

I've been real curious how the new Venom X cables work and compare to their bigger brothers. I bought a Denali and used a cheap cord and it sounds fantastic. Then I tried a Delta XC and it was better and more forward. Then I tried a Alpha and I think I found my forever cable. Real curious about the Venom X power and speaker cables though.

When the Venom cables came out and were positively reviewed, and at a very reasonable price, I not only bought 3 or 4 cables, but the power strip and conditioner as well.  All seem to be very nice quality, but did not improve the sound like I imagined it might.  To me, this proves that you get what you pay for.

Hello balylinor - I don't use any power conditioning in my system. I haven't felt the need to at this time.

Yes dinov - I have read about Shunyata's KPIP process and so far I havn't heard any significant changes in presentation. It's clean, clear and maintains a very good consistent sound. It does appear the X EF's low frequency extension isn't what I expected at this stage.

If you are willing to spend the money, purchase a Denali, or Everest..they only differ in number of isolated  30 amp circuits, from a dealer that provides 60 day no question return policy.  This really is the only way to know what/if you are missing anything on the power side of things...but Shunyata pushes very expensive cords to the wall and I replaced my wall outlet with a Shunyata outlet.  I think these are warranted steps if your equipment is quite revealing.  Personally, I wasn't expecting to keep the conditioner and power cords.  Previously, I was in the "what can the last six foot of power cable do"...but no longer.

vonhelmholtz - Thank you for your insight into Shunyata's power conditioning options. Unfortunately I'm currently not able to pursue a high quality power conditioner at this time. I agree with you completely that cables matter, all cables.

I've explored upgraded recepticals and I recently used the Furutech GTX-D Gold. I found it was lacking in low frequencies and momentum. I've also considered the Shunyata outlet however I'm currently using the AV Options Deep-Cryo Hubble outlet. It works well with Naim equipment. It has much better dynamics and low frequency extension than the Furutech GTX-D Gold so for now I'm satisfied with the Hubble's performance. Today the X EF power cable is sounding very musical with greater resolution than my previous cable. The pace and clarity is very good today. Musical instruments sound more authentic than with my previous cable.

My intention is to keep listening to the new X EF for at least thirty days to get a full understanding of it's potential. If I decided to keep the cable it will continue powering the Naim Supernait 3. My intention is to consider another X EF for my Naim nDAC's Digital section and a Shunyata Venom V10 NR to power the Teddy XPS power supply that's powering the Analog section of the DAC.

As you massage Shunyata into your room and system, talk about the Dynamics experienced in favorite album/recording(s). We have quite similar tastes in Musical genres.  Have fun!

Agreed- Shunyata power conditioners are very special. I had the good fortune to demo the 1st V-Ray upon its release. Quite impressive back then. I can only imagine the advancements  of Denali or Everest. And yes, the last 6 feet of Power Cable can blow one's mind.

Happy Listening!

One reference CD I use to test upgrades is B.L.S. It features Terry Bozzio, Tony Levin and Steven Steven’s. The original production is already excellent but somehow seems to get better each time you introduce a proper upgrade. The X EF has added better tone, timbre and texture. "Book of Hours" is one of my favorites and the system sliced through the rapid fire improvisational masterpiece. The system has very good pace and timing so the X EF is a welcomed addition.

In the past when I’ve introduced other power cables there’s usually a tonal anomaly that stands out like a large bump in the bass or bloom in the midrange. Not the case with the X EF. The tone is very good, balanced and linear across the frequency range. I like what the X EF has done for the Supernait 3 I do anticipate adding another one to the Naim nDAC will be very beneficial.

Other reference discs -

Santana, Shaman, Dirty Shirley, S/T featuring George Lynch and Dino Jelusick, Donald Fegan, Morphin The Cat, Peter Gabriel, UP, Diana Krall, The Girl in the other Room.

Yesterday I purchased a Shunyata Research Delta XC v2 power cable to power my Naim Supernait 3. I intend on powering the Naim nDAC with the new Venom X EF.

I'm looking forward to the upgrade !

The Shunyata Delta XC v2 is an excellent performer on the Supernait 3 and the Shunyata Venom X EF is simply amazing on the Oppo BDP105D Universal Disc player.

I’m currently auditioning Synergistic Research Foundation Series 10awg and 12awg through the system. For now the Delta XC v2 has found a permanent home on the Supernait 3 and the Venom X EF on the Oppo BDP105D.

The Synergistic Research Foundation Series exibt excellent low frequencies, momentum and resolution on the nDAC and the Teddy Pardo XPS and TeddyCap SE.

In my system the Synergistic Research Foundation's were all braun and no brains. They have a very bold presentation but lack air around the instruments. They are all braun and no brains. Lacking clarity in my system. They didn't appear to invite me into the music. Textureally and neutrality they're not the best I've heard in their price range. They simply aren't moving the needle positively what so ever. I pulled them from the system and returned them.

I received a Shunyata Research Venom HC yesterday for the Teddy XPS power supply. I need a cable geared for digital components for the digital section of the nDAC.

Again, Thank You for the Cabling update. Is Shunyata giving more air and decay around the instruments?
