Shunyata Denali Damn!

Long time power cable denier here... I just installed the Denali in my SET based system and holy crap this thing is crazy good! AND I must admit I have been very skeptical of power products for a long time having experienced dynamic compression with other products. The Shunyata Denali made the background dead quiet and without a hint of compression on my 300B mono's breathing through 104db horns. Frankly I am shocked and overwhelmed with how much I like this product. Rarely does a product live up to the hype but this one does. Damn, wish I had done this long ago!

I hope you got their NR cables for your equipment as well. Thats the frosting on the cake

Shunyata builds an excellent product. I can remember auditioning the original V-Ray conditioner.

Happy Listening!
What led you to formerly deny any effect from power cables and what was it about the Denali that changed your mind (compared to prior experiences with power cables)?
Easy all... it may take a while for me to fully get power cable religion.  Baby steps.  That being said I have been on the IC, USB, Speaker cable train for a long time.

@calvinandhobbs... less about the power cables than it was with my previous experience with power conditioners & regenerators.  All that I had tried previously suffered from dynamic compression or coated the sound in a thin shell of plastic.  Not a vale but a like a plastic coating like when you turn on all the smoothing on your TV and it makes everything look like a cartoon.  What led me to Shunyata?  The technology and the actual engineering approach that is used in the medical industry.

Could not be more happy with the product.  It's going to be vary hot today so I may need to stay inside!

That’s a great story and it’s one many audiophiles have experienced. Many of us started out as skeptics, which is why the characterizations of "placebo effect" and "expectation bias" in instances such as this are so silly. The cable industry would lose a substantial portion of its customers if those mechanisms were as powerful as some believe.

"Placebo effect" is real, but it will not cure cancer. Its effect in audio is similarly limited.
Shunyata products are truly amazing i put one of their cords on my accuphase amplifier and wow the sound went up many levels instantly.
Has anyone compared the Denali to Audioquest Niagara conditioners?

Michael Fremer did. He didn’t do a shootout or anything, but he did switch from Shunyata to Audioquest. He was very impressed by the Shunyata but eventually tried the AQ and decided he preferred AQ.  I don't know where he is on power conditioning at this point.  He had a whole house power generator installed and it ruined his sound. He found that he needed PS Audio regenerators to correct the situation, but that is probably not the end of the story.  You can follow what he does next in his column in Stereophile.
Actually I purchased both the Syunyata and the Audioquest since well... I had till now not found a power conditioner that I could live with.  In my system the Shunyata was much better however, It's my understanding that your local power issues would be the deciding factor between the two.  Actually the Youtube channel Audio Excellence (i think out of Canada) tackled this very issue recently and that was the conclusion they reached.

I have good power being only a mile from the substation but have significant noise on the line so the Shunyata was the perfect fit.  If you have power fluctuations but it is reasonably clean it's my understanding that the Audioquest would be better.  Who knows though.  I have found that there are very few absolutes in our hobby as the synergy of the various components of the system is more important that the capability of the components.  Your mileage may vary.
I agree 100% tinear, there is no one size fits all in audio.  Everybody has to find what works for their particular situation.

I liked the effects of a Denali v2 with Alpha XC v2 power cord so well that I bought another. It made a very nice improvement on the front end of my kit. Aspects of the music felt like they started coming from nowhere. But when I put one on my Atma-Sphere OTL amps and the field-coil power supplies the effect was quite astounding. How in the world does putting a (i'll be it passive) filter in between your power amps and the mains current make things dramatically more dynamic? Mind boggling. But it did! [|;^)>
