Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds

How great is this recording!

I'm amazed.

Good, not great considering Flowers, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and The GOAT - Exile on Main Street. I did see them live on the Hackney Diamonds tour - they were fantastic.

The only issue I have is a bunch of 80 year olds doing the same old act.  No real progression of the music that one would expect from a lifetime of new experiences.

Yeah. Funny how close "Hackney" is to hackneyed . . . "lacking significance through having been overused".

Audi-Owe…if not for the greatness of their earlier work, they would probably never have gotten to the Mick Taylor years.  They were a sensation from the get-go, a grittier, bluesier alternative to The Beatles, with tentpole mega hits like The Last Time, Satisfaction, Paint It Black, and Sympathy For The Devil…before Brian Jones’ passing.  I pick Let It Bleed as the pinnacle, just as Taylor signed on.

Much deserved ink and buzz over the Stones for many years.

I was hoping for an interesting song or two along the lines of Blue and Lonesome so purchased the deluxe package, which is OK but missing the authentic rawness of days gone by.

Saw the '72 Exile tour, which has never been equalled by another concert in my book.

Mick Taylor early years were indeed the best, but Keith is the engine that powers the band.

It's cool that Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts are on the album, but not in any way I could notice.

It’s okay for guys that age but give me the Jimmy Miller produced albums.
