Rogue Audio Stereo 100, Atlas Magnum III anybody running them? Sound signatures?

I had the Stereo100s.  Excellent and highly recommended.  The bass is full and articulate.  The midrange clear with good separation of instruments and a wide soundstage.  Treble is not harsh.  The overall sound is not "warm" as would be expected with a tube amp.  Yet, it is certainly not clinical or cold as with SS.  If you get the 100, consider having Rogue upgrade the unit to the "Dark" version.  I did and it made a significant improvement especially with the bass and the separation of musicians.  (I recently sold the 100 only because I upgraded to the Rogue Apollo Darks mono amps which are truly fantastic.). Nick and Mark at Rogue are extremely available and responsive and will help and advise you.  Great company.  Highly recommend the 100.  Incidentally, there are excellent professional reviews on line, albeit from around 2018.  

I only found 4 reviews online, but they were very positive. I am leaning toward the Stereo 100, I like the Balanced input option. What is the Dark version?
BTW nice step up to the Apollos, there is a video at a trade shoe where Mark is bi amping some  big MLs with 2 Apollos  each, I imagine it took care of the job.

I’ve had the Stereo 100 for ~3 years now (driven by an RP7), and had no plans to upgrade... now you have me interested in this upgrade. Any details regarding what they do in this dark upgrade? Already very pleased in the bass performance of the Stereo 100, to improve on that would be impressive. Regarding the Stereo 100, it’s dynamic, detailed, but "muscular". Doesn’t break a sweat with music that would sound disorganized or frenetic on other amps. Love the treble decay, which tubes seem to get better than SS IMO. Stereo 100’s bass better is superior in quality to the SS Parasound Hint and NAD 388 that preceded it in my system. +1 to excellent Rogue customer service as well. They’re good people. Edit: my listening tastes are like 70% jazz, the rest fusion, afrobeat and rock, with a bit of female vocals (inc. Nina Simone, Sarah Jarosz). The Stereo 100 seems adept at all of those, and is versatile.  Oh the Stereo 100 is super quiet in my hands. 

Yet, it is certainly not clinical or cold as with SS.

Disregard what Craig says. If he had a brain he'd be dangerous. I have heard both but not side by side. Both are excellent amplifiers with very good bass. A little tube rolling and you'll be quite happy I bet. I would reconsider the Freya as it will not equal either Rogue amplifiers, I would go at least the RP-1 (Rogue Preamp).

stereo 100 is the amp i never should have sold.  most powerful, muscular 100 watts / channel amp i have heard.  much more powerful sounding than the rogue cronus magnum ii i had, also 100 wpc.  
super nice sounding amp.  

I also have the Stereo 100. It one of the very few amps which can disappear. Well balanced and clean stuff.

with the st100 shoot for the rogue RH 5 headphone amp linestage.  Great synergy, transparency and dynamics.  Can also take advantage of balanced connections.  wont break the bank either.

Little bit of "PRE" digression:
RP series has purdy well regarded phono stage. I have the RP-1 (Mullards) and compared the phono stage against a Moon 110LP v2 and did not think the Moon warranted the spend. my TT is P6/AniaPro. Only problem is with RP series you have to move up the line to get balanced out, RP-7 I believe. But I A/B my RP-1 with single ended out vs my Wadia DAC as the Pre with balanced out. The Wadia pre is all solid state with a digital volume control implemented in the Sabre, I think. Wadia may be a little more analytic but I like the sound of the RP-1 so run that config primarily. Not sure if the Wadia is a "true" balanced design or just add on.

I run the ST-100 with Martin Logan Montis. The amplifier is dead quiet for a tube amp, neutral, dynamic and transparent. No harshness but no rounding of edges either. One of the best amps I ever had. No plans to upgrade.

Good morning, Rick!  Bought my Atlas Magnum III in 2020 from dealer in Atlanta and after a slow break-in period the sound is what I was hoping for from tube powered system. It is mated to the Rogue RP1 preamp. My room size is 17x13x8, but slanted ceiling begins at 10 foot just above speaker placement.  

I listen to Jazz, chamber, and 3 or 4 piece ensembles. Also, pop (e..g Jewel, Tori Amas, Madonna....) Most are CD soundtracks and recently have began a collection of digital music files from various high-end sound studios.  (I am not a fan of Atmos induced music, so my enjoyment is pure 2-channel music and the talent of the particular music enginner from the time the recording was made to its final iteration after mixing). 

The midrange is sweet and ever so natural. The highs never piercing (I maintain high slound levels, but not too crazy) and the base is helped by a single JBL 750 watt sub at its very minimum setting: bass is sharp and "real" for the instument it is being produced by.  

Lastly, the 3-D effect we expect more from tube systems is very enjoyable with my best soundtracks. Noise level is low and from my sitting position (7 foot from ears to speaker face) is zero.  (Note Looping the power cords really does reduce and almost eliminate any electrical noise emenating from the speakers).

It is my refence system, the other being powered by NAD power and large full-range speakers, but the Atlas Magnum III and RP1 system is my reference system.

Simply, a wonderful music experience!

Rick458, if you opt for the Atlas Magnum III, please give us a report.  Like 1 or 2 others here, I have a Rogue RP-1, with it feeding a McIntosh MC2120 (I am original owner and had it rebuilt about 10 years ago) driving Fyne Audio F702s (recently replaced Infinity Modulus system from 1992), with a Shiit Bifrost for DAC and NAD 568 CD player.  The sound is very open, with excellent imaging, particularly as regards depth.  I play music fairly loud, but not, as someone else mentioned, “crazy.” My music choices range from the Moody Blues, CCR, and other soft rock, to female vocals and classical music, especially Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Richard Strauss. I am finding the speakers open up at higher volume levels.   When I switched from a lower-end NAD CD/ NAD integrated amp/Infinities to this system, in stages over a short period, I was simply stunned by the difference  and far, far better sound, in every regard. While the McIntosh has 120 WPC, I am considering bi-amping with the McIntosh at the low end and the AMIII driving the higher end.  If I do that, and the results warrant, I might even replace the MC2120 with a second AMIII.
