Record Store Day 2021, Drop #1 Today!

Well, things were almost back to normal this RSD. Last year was really weird, but still had a good time. This year was of course way busier.

Just love the comradery within my local record community! Lots of younger people and more females than I’ve ever seen...which is a good thing.

What’s better than talking about vinyl?!?

Unable to make it to Music Millennium or any other Portland shop (I am currently dealing with acute Achilles Tendonitis in my right foot; very painful.), I bought online (from Hi-Voltage Records) the only June RSD title I wanted: I'll Have A.....Bucket Of Brains by The Flamin' Groovies. Eight songs on a 10" disc, recorded at Rockfield Studios in 1972, produced by Dave Edmunds.

The July RSD also includes only one record in which I am interested: The Church With One Bell by John Martyn.
When I got to the store (about two hours late), The Who Face Dances (Abbey Road Mastering) was the only thing that caught my interest. It would've been nice to get a copy of The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me, but it was all gone. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable event for a Saturday morning.
I picked up the two Steely Dan releases, four Oneohtrix Point Never releases, The Who, Face Dances, and Gruntruck, Push.

There's another RSD Drop on July 17 - https://recordstoreday.com/PromotionalEvent/583
Very nice haul! Recently, yours truly was “gifted” about 200 pounds of records. 12” 10” and 45’s. I had no idea there were so many Christmas albums released in mono. As a result, Record Store Day may, unfortunately, be skipped this year. Hopefully there is a Record Store Day in 2022 and not the next outbreak of Covid, SARS, Pig Flu, etc, etc.
