Question about RAM

My guess is there are two modules.  Each module is 8GB.  Total is 16GB (2x8GB)

You got two 8 gig modules. For a mid-tier gaming, that amount of RAM (and the CL18 level) is fine. If you play online against other players, going to 32gig and CL16 will make a small, but noticeable difference, but only if you're bandwidth is up to snuff. Offline playing will make little to no difference.

I'm building a low-mid tier gaming PC, and one of the components I purchased is "Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory".

I'm still waiting on other parts, but this came in the mail, and when I checked it out, it was 2 separate sticks, that each say "16GB(2x8GB)" on the label. Did I accidentally buy 32gb of ram, or is each stick 8gb, and they're just labeled confusingly because they're meant to be installed together
